    On the Way

    March 12 in the United States ⋅ ☁️ 86 °F

Flight is at 12:05 pm. Mom was kind enough to get me to the airport. Got a Subway sandwich and ended up at the gate around 10:20 am. So today will be a waiting game…the flight itself was very bumpy but I had a row to myself. Arrived in Orlando around 1:30 pm. I found a nice nook to hole up in after I got my bag. Texted everyone I got here and spoke to Kyrie after school let out.

Corey got me just before four. Then I got meet Figment, Corey’s new pup who is completely deaf and partially blind. I’d tried to crochet him a sweater (the only hint Corey gave to what she’d want for her birthday) and it actually fit!! We took him on walk around the block. Some neighbor kiddos came over and loved on Figment too.

Afterwards we compared plushy hauls, haha. Corey won of course. I was gifted quite a haul, including a dress for Juniper, my 800% size lamb. We had tortilla soup for dinner and watched the new season of ONE PIECE with her roommate. Loki sat next to me because Figment took his spot on the couch. I stayed perfectly still.

Another of her friends, Troy, came to get sewing tips then crashed out over a missed DnD session (I think). He also watched the next episode with us of ONE PIECE.

Everyone hit the hay around 9pm.

  • To St Augustine!

    March 13 in the United States ⋅ ☁️ 72 °F

Up around 8 and got everything in order for what I’m taking to St. Augustine. Has strawberries for breakfast. Watched Corey on the TikTok live buy a Labubu/Hello Kitty plush from China. Played non stop with Figgy (Figment) before taking him to the neighbors. He has a doggie friend there named Maverick who also gave me kisses.

Headed out around 1:15 pm and it’ll take about two hours to get there. After a quick gas stop we drove through KFC for lunch. Traffic got kinda congested near Daytona. But past that, no problems. We stopped at what we thought was a small art/antique shop…it ended up spanning four buildings and a huge yard. Corey found some pretty rings and colorful numbers for her house. The gentian who owned the store was Russian and very kind.

Twenty minutes later we arrived at the rental house. It’s so cute and only a block or so from the beach. There’s a huge outdoor seating area with a fire pit and a porch with a tin roof. Corey claimed the bunk bed. We watched some more ONE PIECE. Our third on the trip, Darla arrived around 7. We headed out to find food and the beach! We got a time at Beachcomber then took a quick walk by the ocean. Dinner was conch fritters, stuffed fish, and a poke bowl.

Got back to your house around 9pm. Still not sure about the sleeping arrangements but I’m sure it’ll work out.

  • St Augustine, Saturday

    March 14 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 70 °F

Up about 7am. I ended up in the big bed while Corey took the bunk bed and Darla sacked out in the couch (she likes tv sound to sleep to).

We watched squirrels at the fire pit and a bird popped on my phone. We had breakfast at Zabba’s Coffee…I had a fried donut. After that we headed for St Augustine proper. Before that we made a quick stop at an arts and crafts show. After that we drove to the city. We saw Flagler College, the Lightner Museum and many beautiful courtyards.

We stopped at a chocolate store for gelato and the lady working there was hilarious. She played “Isn’t She Lovely” for our birthdays. Next we stopped and got tickets to the jail and haunt. We ended up on St George Street, saw the grinch playing violin and saw some pirates. Next we went to the Castillo de San Marco fort. We climbed up the sea wall and saw dolphins and a sea turtle. By this point Darla and I were pretty pooped so we headed back to the parking area.

We hit Publix after cursing Corey’s GPS. Found out we were on the wrong island…apologized to the GPS and followed the directions back to Anastasia Island.
After a quick stop at the house we went to Crabby’s for dinner and had a seafood broil. Then we went to see the lighthouse but it was closed. I took pics anyway.

  • Sunday Anastasia Island, Jail & Ghosts

    March 15 in the United States ⋅ 🌙 66 °F

Corey got us up around 7 to go see the sunrise. It was lovely even with some clouds. After a short walk we headed back and stopped at Zabba’s for more fried donuts. Back at the house Corey made omelets for us too. Took a shower and sat in the sun to dry it. Corey was kind enough to French braid it.

Kristin arrived around 11. She got a flat on the way down. I let her have my donut. She, Corey, and Darla went shelling. I stayed home and napped. Tonight is gonna be busy so I wanted to conserve energy. We had birthday cake for lunch, sorted the shells they found and realized the house adjacent was painted the exact color of the sky.

Around three we headed to the Old Jail and stumbled into a tour group led by inmate Lizzie. She was very informative and funny. We visited the women’s block, the kitchen, the sheriffs office, and death row. I’m not gonna talk about the solitary confinement room…because I still think they were pulling a trick with the shadows…it HAD to be a trick.

Anyway afterwards we drove to the fort and wandered looking for dinner. We settled on the Prohibition Kitchen, an old school speakeasy with gas lights and lots of barrels. It was very loud when the live music started and it took 15 minutes for our waitress to notice us. By this point we’re a bit cranky…but the food was good. As soon as we left the rain hit hard. We bought umbrellas but they didn’t really help as we were two by two. Four drowned rats later we made it to the car and back to house.

After throwing all our clothes in the dryer, we chilled until 8:45. Then we went on our ghost tour! We learned about an exploding bishop, a dead bride and more. We visited a grave yard, the wax museum and back to the flipping jail…yeah…where Corey got a pic of my “friend”. The tour was great save for two disrespectful teen girls who were all wanted to strangle. We got home around 11pm.

  • Back to Orlando

    March 16 in the United States ⋅ 🌧 68 °F

Up early around 6am, packed quietly and emerged when I heard Corey making breakfast. She made orange flavored cinnamon rolls. The rest of the morning was spent getting packed, cleaning up, divvying up shells and canning Kristin’s tire. The bikers next door actually turned around from their ride to ask if we needed help, which was sweet. Corey and Kristin got it handled. I wrote a message in the guestbook.

Kristin last around 8am and Darla around 9am. I hope they both get home to Orlando and Chattanooga respectively. Corey and I did one last run thru before leaving just before 10am.

On the way back we stopped at Ebisu, a new store that was tremendously dangerous. It was packed with blind boxes, plush blind boxes, cute stationary, gachapon, and snacks. I did good and only got one thing for myself. I still owed Corey for part of the groceries so I also purchased one of her three blind boxes (Laura in a hard shell carrying case) for her. Then we hit up Hmart for lunch. I had egg rolls and Corey had a Korean dish with soup and a veggie kimchi pancake.

We got back to her house and went to pick up Figment at the neighbors’ house. We made it back in just before the rain hit. There’s a massive storm front hitting all up and down the east coast. According to Corey’s mom and Darla’s husband it was snowing in Tennessee. I called Kyrie and Greg to warn them about the airport delays due to the weather and a partial government shutdown.

We finally watched the last episodes of ONEPIECE. Figment clambered up into my lap and fell asleep. Then I went upstairs to pack while Corey was gonna take a nap. But she ended up installing a doggie gate on the steps that had a little pass through for the cats. But turns out Figment is part noodle and actually fit! I wish I was more useful sometimes…

We looked at dresses for Kyrie for prom. She ended up picking a pretty galaxy style dress that was gifted to Corey by a drag queen. We walked the dog around the block. Corey had a Dungeons and Dragons campaign from 6-8pm. I’ll talk to her about what time I need to get to the airport after she’s done…
