Yay!!! On the ship with no problems at all! Everyone is happy and so far all the guests have been nice too! We arrived early for check in but they let us go ahead and board. Our room was even ready before 12:30. Mom scored an upgrade so we have balcony! Our steward is from Indonesia his name it is Tri (tree). So excited to have this opportunity to travel with mom again!Read more

  • Sea Day 1

    March 4, 2022, North Atlantic Ocean ⋅ 🌧 77 °F

The ship still feels very comfortable and not crowded. Last night we saw a comedy show. This morning mom and I made crepe paper flowers. We sailed next to Cuba close enough to see land. Both of us are taking it easy in preparation for our shore excursions. Tonight’s show was a juggler…it sounds kinda tacky but the guy was hilarious. We are through to the Windward Passage and heading south to Cartagena, Colombia.Read more

  • Sea Day 2

    March 5, 2022, Caribbean Sea ⋅ 🌙 77 °F

We are almost to Cartagena, Colombia which is cool because mom and I went to Spain’s Cartagena last year. We saw a huge rainbow at breakfast. We bombed another set of trivia then got a glimpse behind the scenes of running a floating hotel. After that we made more flowers in arts and crafts, we kept thinking the teacher was saying Flamingo flowers for Latin Party night. Many hours later Mom figured out she meant or was saying Flamenco! Tried to go to a juggling seminar but it was way way way too crowded. Saw a magician for the nightly show but he did the same tricks Dad has used for years! Up early tomorrow for Cartagena!Read more

  • Cartagena, Colombia

    March 6, 2022 in Colombia ⋅ ⛅ 86 °F

Cartagena has a tremendously diverse population. On our tour we went to La Boquilla, drank coconut juice out of a real coconut, and watched a traditional fisherman throw nets. Next we had lunch at 9am empanadas and fried egg and listened to a music by a Vallennato band. We visited a museum of the history of Colombian emeralds. Then mom and I wandered (got completely lost) through the Old City. At Ridge end of the tour we had to walk through an echo Park full of parrots, peacocks, and even saw a capuchin monkey.

This was all before noon…we will sail to Panama next.

  • Gatún Lake and Locks in Panama

    March 7, 2022 in Panama ⋅ ⛅ 82 °F

Got to sleep early but up early for the ship’s big sale. Nothing much of interest. We have to tender to shore this time so we went early to join our group for our train tour from the Atlantic to the Pacific Ocean.

It’s amazing that the Panamanians used the same technique to make Gatún Lake as Norris and Kentucky Lakes. The guide is incredibly knowledgeable and we’ve learned a ton. Sadly the rest of the group were horrendously rude and talked over him almost the whole time. But mom and I got to see both oceans!!

  • Puerto Límon, Costa Rica

    March 8, 2022 in Costa Rica ⋅ ☀️ 82 °F

Today we did trivia ( we failed again…) and made’ treasure boxes in arts and crafts. After that we went on an eco-safari via pontoon boat down the Tortuguero canals into a rainforest. Our guide was wonderful and we saw sloths, howler monkeys and tons of other wild animals. We have a Sea day tomorrow and after that we will be in Roatan Honduras!Read more

  • Roatán, Honduras

    March 10, 2022 in Honduras ⋅ ☀️ 81 °F

Hahaha, our ship got cut off by a Royal Caribbean at the dock. Had a good breakfast and meet our tour at the end of the Pier 3. We are in a TINY group of six people in a small van. I love it! Our guide, Osmond, is funny and patient with the guests who have mobility issues. We went to an animal preserve, saw a butterfly garden, monkeys, parrots and a SLOTH! Then they let us HOLD THE SLOTH!!! We went to an overlook after that and to Buccaneer center and we’re the only ones there! After a short drive to Las Palmas Resort for 2 hours of Beach time.Read more

  • Harvest Caye - Belize

    March 11, 2022 in Belize ⋅ ⛅ 82 °F

Mom and I got to snorkel today. Unfortunately there were so many people it was hard to see anything without someone bumping you and our guide kept steering the group close to fire coral…anyway, Harvest Caye is NCL’s private island off the coast of Belize. For the most part we had a lovely time and even met a lady in her late eighties who had gone parasailing today.Read more

Oh well no snorkeling…sea is too rough. Probably won’t go into town as the reviews say there are a lot of scams and very aggressive vendors. Mom and I are both sunburned so perhaps a restful day is in order.Read more

  • Sea Day - to Miami

    March 13, 2022, Gulf of Mexico ⋅ ⛅ 68 °F

Last day at sea before we disembark in Miami. We’ve had very rough seas last night and today. Mom and I did some of the events on the ship but for the most part just chilled out and packed…. And tried to keep from barfing. Ironically the crew sent us chocolates and we managed to keep those down, hahaha.

Last night the waves and wind were so strong, it blew our balcony door open three times. I’d made mom watch A Quiet Place 2 (horror movie) before bed so that didn’t help when the curtains started flapping with the wind howling…but I got it closed somehow.

We had a really good dinner too. We failed at bingo. And said goodbye to our friends Corina (Cruisenext lady) and Tiara (cruise director).
