Day 48, Hanami: Picnic Under the Sakura

Japanese are celebrating Hanami this Sakura (cherry blossom season) for the first time since the pandemic. Hanami dates back 1000 years when aristocrats would eat and drink under the blossoms to celebrate spring. We were celebrating spring today in Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden with thousands of picnicking locals and tourists. With over 1000 cherry trees, there was lots to celebrate. Gorgeous!Read more
