Lej Languard

What a beautiful day. We decided to hike to Lej Languard. We took the chairlift from Pontresina and hiked in 1 hr. 15 min. to lake Languard. It went steadily up. The scenery was fabulous and being Swiss I might be biased, but hiking is so much nicer here compared to last week in St. Anton Austria. Lake Languard has a temperature of about 5 C. Quite a few people were brave and dipped in and out again. Dieter actually stayed in a bit longer and even swam a bit. We decided against hiking over to the Alp Languard and went back to the top of the chairlift. In the restaurant there we had lunch and then hiked down to Pontresina in something over 1 hr. It was pretty steep. According to our son Michael this was his favourite hike since our holiday started.Read more

6 Lake Hike Furtschellas

Today we went up to Furtschellas for our 6 Lake hike. We took the Gondola up to Furtschellas. We started our round hike with the steepest part to the first lake or Lejin as they are called in Romansch. This Lej is called Lejin Cristal. We went further up to Lejin Magnetit. Here we took a little break to eat a snack from our 🎒. Then it basically went all downhill to Lejin Malachit, where Michael took a little foot bath. Then we went on further downhill to Lejin Rhodonit. Now it went uphill again to Lejin S-chaglia (here are two fireplaces with wood to grill a sausage or whatever is in the 🎒) finally the last Lej was in sight the beautiful Lejin Epidot. The rest of the hike felt still long till the restaurant. We were thirsty for a 🍺. After the refreshment we hiked down to the cable cabin on the bottom. That was an other hour and 20 minutes. Lago Bianco-Alp Grüm

We have done this hike with today 3 times and never get tired. After 8 days of hiking up and down this hike was just what we needed. There were gentle ups and downs and mostly straight forward along Lago Bianco. Each time we came here the scenery was obviously the same yet each hike was very different. We had ice, snow and a lot of fog. We had snow and sunshine and today it was just a lot of 🌞👌. We parked the car at the Bernina Hospiz and walked to the Alp Grüm, which was a bit longer than an hour. It was the first time we could actually sit outside in the 🌞. Inside it is very small and outside too. It is a well known place so luck was on our side to get a table. As it is with all these places they struggle to get enough staff. Therefore service was slow and a bit chaotic. But the cheese Spätzli were well worth the wait and so were the Älpler Makronen. The cheese they used was extra delicious 😋. The scenery from Alp Grüm is also extra special. You can see on a good day down to the Puschlav and Lago di Poschiavo.

Muotas Muragl

Today was an easy day. We have for three days the two little grand kids here and there is no chance of any hike. Instead we took the train up to Muotas Muragl where there is a very nice childrens playground. It was a hot they and the kids wanted to go swimming, but it was kind of too late. Instead we used the village fountain where they could play in the pretty cold water despite the water being pretty cold.Read more

Lej da Staz

The morning started really sunny and promising and we promised the kiddies to walk to Lej da Staz, there they could building sandcastles and have a dip in the lake.
But once again the summer had a different mind. It clouded over and while we had lunch at the outside Café it started pouring down. Everybody run into the restaurant, but no chance to get a seat!!! We had to walk back with kids in the rain. If ever in the area of Pontresina the Hotel Albris they have the best Köchendörfer Engadiner Torte. It is slightly different to the Engadiner Torte, but sooooo delicious 😋. As always the weather changed again for more sunshine.Read more

All nice things do end at some point! The end of the holiday has arrived and we had to drive home. The weather was cloudy to start with but brightend up eventually. We chose the Julierpass, which was the quickest. We could have taken the Albula or the Flüela too. Traffic was great for us, while in the opposite direction it had traffic jam after traffic jam. Once again we loved the beautiful Engadin. It offers so much such as great hikes and views, many lakes and great possibilities to see and do. We will be back...Read more
