Whitsundays Islands

Original plan was to be picked up right after my last day at work to go on a boat adventure with Liv and G (the lovely english girls) and drive to Darwin from there. The thing was that... Maxi, the car they bought from french (and human) Max wasn't the best (never ever buy a car from a backpacker please), so plans changed a bit. The girls flew to Proserpine for a few days after my disappointment on them not enjoying their time in Australia because of a car. Jay drove us to the boat and we started this beautiful jorney together. Water cristal blue, green untouched islands, sky strong and hot but matching the landscape and strong wint taking us to the most paradisiac destinations. Visited Whitehaven (considered one of the most beautiful beaches in the world), snorkeled in the reef, saw a few whales (I struggled a bit with that part) and big green turtles, hiked a bit some islands, admired how the crew sailed with the boat and ate and relaxed as a queen. The boat group was pretty nice, got along really well with a canarian guy called Otto, with whom we sang and remembered the best spanish hits that created such a nice night with the guitar and so much talent. After tons of sunscreen and excitement, came back to land (the world was moving for a while) had dinner with everyone in a rather disappointing venue and had a few drinks until my eyes couldn't stay open any more. Next morning gave a bigbig hug to my girls and jumped on a bus to my next advenure.

🔎 Some facts: Last movie of Pirates of the Caribbean was filmed in Whitehaven beach (when he finds the hearts treasure chest), but the beach had no palm treas so they planted hundreds of them just for the movie and after filming planted them in Airlie Beach (that's where the waterfront palm trees come from).Read more
