Cheesecake Factory

After receiving a recommendation from Mr Ritchie, my former secondary school for tutor, I headed for dinner at the cheesecake factory. The queue was out the door, so I knew it must be good!

After eventually securing a table I ordered the '30th Anniversary Chocolate Cheesecake' which sounded right up my street.

At 1,310 calories per slice, I didn't bother with a main course, and didn't even manage to finish the entire cheesecake. So it was complimentary bread, butter and a massive slice of cheesecake for dinner!

$11.50 for a slice of cake may seem steep but for a meal out in Honolulu I don't think that's bad at all!

The sunset em route was also stunning once again so I stopped forna few minutes to catch the last of it.Okumaya devam et

Honolulu Walking Tour

This morning I headed into the very heart of Honolulu's business, political and cultural district for a free walking tour!

Our local guide showed the group around various spots in the city including palaces, legislatures, statues and churches!

Hawaii was not initially part of the US on its initial formation and was only colonised in the early 1900's, becoming a fully fledged state in 1959. Hawaii today is now a blend of all of these changes over the past century or so, with various cultures, races and religions all living side by side.Okumaya devam et

Next up I hopped on the bus once more, this time further up the coast to Pearl Harbour. Famously bombed by the Japanese on 7th December 1941, dragging the US into WWII as they declared war on Japan the following day.

Japan's aim was to weaken the US' military and morale as Japan sought to conquer the South Pacific and South East Asia. However the complete opposite happened as the nation rallied around the military and went full throttle into the war, ultimately coming out on top over the Japanese.Okumaya devam et

The main focus of the Pearl Harbour attack was the US navy's row of hunubgous battleships, resting off the coast of Ford Island within the harbour.

The ship that took the largest hit and suffered the greatest loss was USS Arizona, with 1,177 of the officers and crewmen on board being killed, over 900 of who's bodies were never recovered and still lie within the ships wreckage just beneath the surface today.

A memorial now stands over the site to remember those lost. Including a Clayton and 6 Wilson's named on the memorial wall.Okumaya devam et

Leaving Honolulu

After departing Pearl Harbour I headed back into Honolulu to collect my luggage. I had a stroll around the harbour area including Aloha Tower as the sun set out to sea.

It was then two flights (changing in San Francisco) before landing in Cancun! A monumental moment at the start of my second flight as I finished reading the final Harry Potter book, the series which has been accompanying me throughout my journey.

I'll now start a new trip with Danny joining me in Cancun!Okumaya devam et
