Paihia & Waitangi

Boat trip this morning which took us to what is known as the hole in the rock, we saw bottle nosed dolphins and had lunch on the beautiful Otehei Bay. This afternoon we went to Waitangi to visit the treaty grounds, where the Waitangi Treaty was signed in 1840 between the British crown & Māori chiefs.
We also saw the world’s largest ceremonial war canoe, at 35m long and up to 2m wide, it holds 80 paddlers and 55 other passengers.
