• Day 9 Juneau Seaplane

    September 21 in the United States ☁️ 10 °C

We took a seaplane tour - a first for all of us - over 5 glaciers this afternoon, Cindy & Lara were more nervous than the others about this!

A young lady took our tickets and took us to the plane and our seats, Ian being last in got the front seat, with the same young lady who was also our pilot!!!

We took off from the gray saltwater channel, and soared right into low-hanging clouds and alpine mist to showcase five incredible glaciers: the massive Taku, the Norris, the Hole-in-the-Wall, and the East and West Twin Glaciers. Looking down through the overcast sky, the deep ice crevasses and brilliant turquoise meltwater pools glowed even brighter against the dark, jagged rock.

The take off and landing were effortless, as was the whole flight.

What an incredible experience, despite Juneau's signature gloomy weather, it made the whole experience incredibly moody and dramatic. the scenery was breathtaking, from glaciers, rainforest & different coloured waters, to waterfalls and incredible landscapes, a reminder of just how remote and stunning this place actually is.

Back to the ship for more delicious foods and another round in the Piano Bar.
