• Day 13 Heading back to Vancouver

    September 25 in Canada 🌬 13 °C

Today was a much-needed day at sea as we continued our journey back to Vancouver — the perfect chance to unwind after our busy port days!

The girls decided to hit the line dancing session for one last cruise hoorah. It turned out to be a very interesting experience, to say the least! Just as the music started, we hit a stretch of open sea, and the ship began swaying rather a lot. Trying to hit your steps while the floor is tilting beneath you is certainly a world away from our regular line dancing classes back home!

After burning off those calories, we fully indulged in the Cake Special event at the Lido buffet, marvelling at the incredible four-tiered cakes on display. Just as we were finishing up lunch, Jono spotted a whale breaching right outside the window! It was a fabulous few seconds — unfortunately not caught on camera, but absolutely committed to memory.

Spurred on by the sighting, Cindy, Jo, Lara and Ian headed up to the deck for an official wildlife-spotting session to see if we could find any more giants of the deep. Sadly, the wildlife completely stood us up — not a single fin or blowhole in sight! A bit disappointing, but that’s nature for you.

By evening, it was time for our final meal in the main dining room. It was a bittersweet dinner as we said goodbye to Tulus and Feri, our wonderful servers. We had thoroughly enjoyed all our evenings with them and the fabulous food they brought us each night. We wrapped up the cruise with some final drinks and one last lively session at the Billboard Onboard Piano Bar, whilst Jono popped across to B.B. King’s, before heading back to the cabin to tackle the dreaded task of packing our cases for disembarkation tomorrow.
