Well these two are gettin later un later, its gone eleven before they gets out of their pits tuday. Their giving the bus another try today un goin to Southwold, good start the bus is on time un front row seats.
The weather is beautiful today and really hot. They start the day at the Pier, checking out the beach huts then enter the pier un what do you know theres a restaurant/bar selling Adams so of cause the has to have one before goin any further. The Pier is bustling un they meks the way to the end, all along the handrails are little brass commemorative plaques with names on, apparently the purchase goes towards the upkeep of the Pier. They calls in at the arcade on the way, full of strange machines and of course e has to have a go, they walks back past the wall of mirrors and the water clock just in time to see it going through its routine, including the statues of the two boys dropping their pants and weeing.
Next they meks their way along the front towards the town in search of yet another pint before trying out one of the best chippies in town. Next call is the Adams brewery shop before heading home, hopefully this bus will turn up, good job it does its the last one of the day. Sunny Southwold didn't disappoint best day of he holiday.Read more

Lowestoft

We'll they certainly are avin a relaxin trip this time, they day get up till nearly 10. Leisurely breakfast and a sit in the sun reading. They eventually decide to get the bus into Lowestoft
They finally arrives after the bus is late, but front row seats again, but they am delayed to reach the gem they ope Lowestoft is as the bus has tu wait for the harbour bridge to open to let a boat through.
It's got a little town centre to walk round but all of a sudden the wind has really got up un its blowing like mad. They meks their way to the front by the South Pier and they pop into the Harbour Inn for a pint.
They start battling their way along the prom, her nearly has her dress fly over her head with the wind, and with the sand blasting against them they decide it's time to head home, unfortunately the bus company has other ideas. The bus don't show so thems standing around for nearly an hour waiting for the next bus. Not the end they wanted to the day, so all in all in all not one one of their best days out.Read more

They've bin to Norwich before, for a footie match, but neither of um cun remember much about it. They start by looking around the market, well yu wouldn't go hungry, there's food from all countries here, the smells are lovely. They as a walk round, he's does some shopping, actually purchases, then she has a gu as well.
There's some nice buildings, but the castle is a funny shape un it looks like it's having some work done.
They've decided to ave a meal out today, but of course, as usual, when they want summut they cor find anywhere. Whilst he's looking on his app fur Wetherspoons she spots a sign saying 10% off for Camra members at The Vine on Mondays bonus. Down the ally is a little pub selling real ale un Thai food, not your usual combination, but it worked out OK and saved cooking.

Horning, and Boring

Well he's selected some nice villages to tour round today, so yours truly has bin called into action.
Horning is the first stop and after parking me up at the village hall they wander down to the river. Well it's rather lovely so they sit with a tea and coffee watching the equivalent of the M25 of boating, strewth it's busy on the river.
So wandering further they heads me off for the coast for a sea view for lunch.
Big mistake - no parking for me as I am a bit of a big boy. So lunch was had on an industrial estate road for gawds sake. You caw make it up can yer!
After that a drive through some nice villages and back to the camp site so a bit of a disappointing day really. Hey ho, I may be a bit big for touring round villages and narrow roads, but they doh complain about me space when that are on site, so boo hoo!Read more

Oh dear Bertie, shame they couldn't park you to have a wonder as the villages round there are really pretty. We've see motorhomes parked up at the coast though.....Hunstanton, Wells by the sea etc. Not been to Horning though......Will have to investigate next time we visit cousin Rob! Boat Trip Up The Broads

Well they didn't exactly rush to get up un goin this morning, so it was afternoon before the bikes come down off me rear. Thems gunna bike into Wroxham for a look around. Himself fancies a boat ride, her ain't keen but I spose she'll go.
Well if it wasn't for Roy's, Wroxham would only consist of Fish un Chip shops, she counted 4. Roy's started as a corner shop, it's now the largest ever corner shop incorporating a supermarket with a McDonald's. Over the road is a Roy's department store, there's also a separate Roy's toy shop, garden centre and DIY centre , God help Wroxham if he closes down. She's treated herself to a hat tu keep sun off her head, dow think much of the ribbon round it, that's gotta gu, for summit a bit less flowery, but it's okay.
They finds a boat trip, 90 minutes on the Vintage Broadsman boat, a looky likey paddle steamboat . A gentle cruise along the broads with informative commentary. They pass some beautiful houses, the oldest, a little thatched cottage and the newest, a multi-million £ super modern mansion. They even pass one originally owned by old time musical performer George Formby, (remember the picture and story Kath) . A bit of wildlife on the way and lots of boats and they both enjoyed a lovely trip.
Back on the bikes retracing their route alongside the narrow gauge railway line back to me, whose spent all day on me own after the other caravan left this morning, a good day .Read more

Ignore him Deb.......love the hat and at least you won't be the one with a burnt yed! [Fi]

That sounds an all round BOSTIN day Bertie! And Deb on another boat for 90minutes, that's a real achievement. Weather looks great too, so good job she's got a new titfa to keep the sun off! Very pretty part of the world 🙂🌞 [Fiona]

So wim off to the Norfolk Broads and it's a bit warm to start with, but we ad a good journey getting here, not too much traffic. Wroxham looks like a nice little town as we costed through, so they'll enjoy checking that out at some point.
Lovely site, nice short grass on me wheels. Lovely view for um to look at, mind you her fell asleep as soon as they sat out in the sun. Let's see what tomorrow brings .Read more

Great holiday, lovely, scenery un coastline. I've bin up mountains un down valleys in countries I've never bin tu before. We've had sunshine, rain, thunderstorms un I've dipped me wheels in snow, well almost. Weem bin tu France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, Austria, Slovenia, Croatia and Italy dun just over 2500 miles. I'm knackered but thems ad a great time un that's all that matters. Unny downside to the trip he's gone un lost his wallet on the way hum, don't know where, could be, France, could be security at The Tunnel or the motorway services, she keeps tellin him about them pockets on his shorts, never mind good job it were on the way hum and not on the way out.

Weem getting closer. Not so many killies today un unny one country. Motorways all the way so the cameras away un the quizzes are back on, them scoured the tinternet this time un their doin okay.
We turns off the motorway for a trek cross country to the campsite, OMG what are they doing tu me, the sat nav ses turn left un they did, bugger me, cobbled streets, give me a proper bone rattlin, pretty little town Cassel, but cut do wi sum tarmac.
On to Watten, were we're stopping. Town has a windmill un a huge canal running thru it. We tries the Aire fust, free night, there was a space but it's a bit chocker so its back up the canal, feels like um, to the little campsite. Lovely little site, mainly statics, un seasonal pitches but a nice little pitch with grass. The wife sites us un ses hubby ull be round later, ruddy good English both of um.
Off fu a stroll round village tu stretch the legs, fust sight is a stone bridge uvva nuthin, cause he has tu climb up it, they think it might be seating fu boules pit. We must av ad rain overnight as the grounds is wet under me wheels un the clouds are low over the hills.
Just doing me abloushions when up comes a German fella for a chat,. He's sin the flag on me back end un wanted tu know what it was, spoke good English. Himself explained about the flag, and a good old chat was had and he said he's gonna Google it as well. nice chap.
Weem racking up the counties agin today un using the motorway, which is great as they dont allow lorries to travel on Sundays, as we drive past the lay-by's their all parked up just waiting. The roads are nice to drive on, not much traffic. Weem startin in Germany then going through Luxembourg where we stop for a cuppa un fill up with cheap diesel. He even treats me to the super duper stuff as its so cheap, me reward for being a good little runner.
After that it's on to Rochefort in Belgium for the evening. We tried the Aire first up, but it were a car park un a bit full so's its off tu the campsite up the road. Lovely site in between two rivers .
After a cuppa they as a walk around the town, he's picked this place as its got sum good reviews, yu knows, 'nice town, couple of restaurants, un some Caves close by,'. Well they wore expecting this, the place is heaving, folks everywhere. The Caves is right in the middle of town set in parkland full of eateries un activities , looks like there's bin summut on today, groups of youngsters, look like scouts, trooping through the town. Nice place, good choice.
Back tu the van for a sit before tea, another bostin sunset, typical yu waits 3 weeks un two cum along together.Read more

Weem off agin early, got another 300 killies tu do tuday, but thankfully only 1 country. Motorways agin today so no pics. Tu keep themselves awake thems playing a TV Quiz fum un old book. Ruddy ell, I've never herd questions like um, no wonder the books from 2002. Yu shud ere the answers he's giving tu the Soap's questions, every answer's Frank.
Anyroads I gets up tu the campsite at Annweiler, overloked by the castle,. Blimey it's like an OAP's home full of old caravans, but it unny for the night so who cares, it's not like they are gonna be sitting outside, cozy its raining here.
He settles down tu watch the England match bit of a flakey signal, so much so we miss England's goal and all the penalties, it won't till we saw Swiss players crying we realised weed won.
Er indoors did finally get a picky of a sun set though, complete with low clouds over the hills.

In, Over Un Through The Dolomites

Well I dow believe it, we're on the road before 9. 30 this morning, mind you we got a windy old road to gu along. Them tekin me up, over, un through The Dolomites , not a quick route but a very pretty one.
The scenery is fantastic, from huge craggy mountains with snow on um, and wide flat green valleys. Pretty little towns with houses covered in flowers un, churches stuck halfway up the side of hill. Dried up river beds with a trickle of pale green water un waterfalls, this drive as it all, an I'm lovin it.
We stops for a cuppa on the town square in Rigolato before heading on to Scapa.
A lot of these towns seems to have double bubble, pretty enough for tourists in the summer un cable cars un ski slopes in the winter, like the town they stops in for lunch, San Candida. There was a stream runnig through the town, a cable car, for the ski slopes in winter un the toboggan run in summer, it was frightnin tu watch, them cum down at a right lick, talking about lick, they as a proper Galeto while they watch the idiots on the toboggan run, they must be mad,

Gem Of The Holiday

Today weem making a definite movie North to the foothills of the Dolomites. He used to have a car which was a Triumph Dolomite, her lernt tu drive in it, white it was, GOC 103L. Anyways, weem goin into Italy, so her will be happy, her luvs a good Pizza, in fact hers offered to pay for one for tea tonight.
He's found a little site in Gemona, not far from Udine. It's got good recommendations on the site. It's in the garden of Willy's Hotel, (no sniggering at the back there), un has a restaurant that does 101 diffrent Pizzas so sure her'll find her favourite .
Not really much tu look at on the way but the site is fabulous, beautifully laid out gardens, with flowers un fruit trees, electric, showers un toilets, un mountains tu look at, all for €15, when he thinks what e paid yesterday e nearly as a turn.
A lovely afternoon sitting in the sun in lovely surroundings, Wimbledon on the telly tonight, un Pizza fu tea. What more cud yu want..Read more

Novigrad

After last night's storm we've woke tu blue sky un sunshine 🌞, but gawd it's ot agin. Thems as a leisurely morning un then it's on the bikes tu ride into Novigrad town. Not sure what tu expect as its unny little. Fust road they cum to is full of little shops all wi the outsides decorated nicely un there's umbrellas hang from wires over the road, it looks right pretty. A nice tall church tower look over the bay leading tu the marina .
Suddenly Mart sees a tree fallin uver so he rushes tu hold it up, unny joking, it's just bent like the others.
They walks around the marina un gues what, yep yum right they finds a bar, so down they sits until waitress cums. ' As yu got any craft beer or IPA' he ses, well her looks at im gone out, and gesticulating un ses summit in Croatian, anyroads her only cones out with 2 bottles of the nicest beers thems ad all holiday . So good they as another between em.
These 3 Croatian coastal towns have all bin beautiful especially when the sun is out over the sea, but here at Novigrad this is probably the best of the lot. What a fantastic place to holiday it has got the whole package, laid back bars and restaurants, harbour and marina, lovely local shops, truly lovely place.
A bit more walking un he decides his hungry so they goes in search of food. A nice little restaurant overlooking the sea, she has Cordon Blue un he's has Sausage things, a bit like Souvilaki. They does a bit of sharing so's they cun both try it, very nice it was too. Then a leisurely bike ride home, her has a nap while he sorts out where I'm goin tomorra.Read more

North to Novigrad

New month, new town. Weem heading North today, so a few killies nearer home.
We're goin to Novigrad tu see if we con get on the campsite, if we cor we need a new plan of action as there int anuther un here. Weem arrived early, well early fur us, un there's loads of space so they leaves me parked up whilst they gus un finds a pitch, summut wi a bit of shade as it's roasting angin tuday. Weem got a big pitch under the pine trees, I con see that bein a problem later, but yow con just about see the sea until sum bugger parks on next pitch un blocks the view. We sets up, has a cuppa un a rest, well we as travel all of about 25 kilometres.
Later they as a walk round the site, it's a big un, with activities, bar, restaurants un hotel. Nice pitches right on the seafront, god knows how much they are, he's paid about €70's a night for our pitch. His credit card is in shock, in un out his wallet, rates here are smacking is gob as they say, but there is no alternative, the big companies offer hotels, mobile homes and camping by the coast and that is what everyone wants, do pay up or piss off, so to speak. Pebbley beach agin but sea is sectioned off for swimming un you can hire deckchairs but them pricey. There's a big grassed area for sun bathing, first bit of grass them seen in about a week.
Weem intending to av a BBQ tonight but the winds got up un its getting cloudy ⛅ so's her gonna do it inside, good decision as the heavens open and we has a thunderstorm, agin.
Had a lovely surprise phone call from Tom, Vicki and the kids, cheered her up as er misses um, on the up side WiFi is belting so's they manages a bit of Tennis un another episode of Clarkson's Farm before bed, let's see what tumorra brings.Read more

Bike ride to Vrsar

Thems spent a lazy morning doin bugger all except reading, and it's hot, hot, hot. 🌞 They cor use the technology gadgets much cause the WiFi signal is crap.
Eventually they does get they're arses in gear un gets the bikes out., They're goin tu bike into the little town. The cycle path meanders through the campsite for most of the way, then opens out onto the marina, they luvs a marina, which is strange as neither of um like boats.
They cycle tu the end of the pathway un hey ho, there's a bar, so no surprises they as a drink un sit un watch the pleasure boats cum in, full off tourists . This bar/restaurant is also doing a roaring trade in ice creams, some are more artistic than others, (anyone for a knob of ice cream?), certainly puts a new spin on 'two scoops'.
Back on the bikes un they goo of in search of summut to eat, there's a few places tu choose from but nun look as popular as wheere they had their drinkies so they gus back there for food, bass fillet for him un steak for her.
On the ride back hum, they stops at a wine and fruit shop for a taste of the local draught Croatian wine, plain plastic bottles. Very nice and value at 1.5 litres for €6.
Back hum un he's hopin tu watch the footie match but the WiFi signal is useless un apparently so is the game so e ay missed much, instead her thrashed im at a game of Ming. Result.Read more

Vrsar

After 2 nights ar Rovinj wim moving north for the first time this holiday a whole 20 kilometres nearer home. Rock up at chosen campsite and it is rammed, they had a look at the few pitches available and they were so cramped me arse ud be angin over the road. Thanks but no thanks.
Just the north side of Vrsar another site and ooray a nice pitch on a nice site secured, at an eye watering price that himself doh like, but tek it or leave it?
All the sites on this stretch of coast are mega huge ,by the sea and no alternatives so we tek it.
Nice walk along the beach, no sand along the coast just rocks really, and he has another dip before retiring for Limoncello Spritz at the beach bar, accompanied by the local wildlife.
Another day and two further incidents for the Pedmore Two. Herself trips up me steps and tumbles over on me floor, luckily all is OK.
Himself spills the entire coffee canister on me carpet so has to spoon it up, grit and fluff an all.

Well today thems off to explore Ravinj, there gettin there be water taxi, hers not lookin forward to it, well yu knows what hers like wi boats. Anyroads they walks down tu the jetty un them the unny ones there. The town looks lovely in the distance wi a big schooner docked in front.
They gets on the taxi un them the unny ones on it, but it launches on time. They sits up front on the outside, her ay appy, but tuff, as it appens the crossing ain't too bad, er even manages tu teck some photies
When they docked there was a market on the dockside selling souvenirs, fruit, olive oil un wine. The old town is lovely, lots of little alleyways, un what looked like scrubby buildings from the water were actually lovely little shops with entances down steps by the water .
They also up tu the church on the top of the hill, it's a long way up but lovely.
He's bin Googlin tu see if he cun find any Craft Beer un e cums up with one bar The Mediterraneo, well its lovely, down some steps between two buildings right, un I mean right, on the waters edge. They as a can of beer un sits there watchin the boats goo by, un then a group for 4 Brits turn up, them bin a few times before, sos the as a chat un another beer un sits for a while, contemplating.
Next up is a walk around the harbour, some lovely big boats in. Time for for so a meal overlooking the harbour, oh dear he gus yn meks a boo boo, orders a Cider un its unny Zero percent, un possibly zero taste. Her has a burger un he has Fish Platter, okay but not keen in the squid.
Galeto on the way back tu the water taxi un back hum, thems shattered un hot so it's time for a shower, even her majesty used the facilities, well at them prices yu might as well, according to him they was the bollocks. According to her there're very nice. It's bin a hot one tuday, but a nice one Ravinj, is top of the pops so far this holiday.Read more

I think you're over exaggerating on the lovely fruity cider though......Bertie hope they got back in one piece, even though it was zero!!! Missed you, but looks like you're having a BOSTIN time, enjoy xxx [Fiona]

Wet, Wet, Wet

Yum all gonna love this un.
WET 1
Well today weem moving agin, going due West to the furthest point of the holiday, un boy am I glad, them put sum miles on me clock, its about time we headed um.
I need me abloushions doin agin, and there's no bloody signs any where so weem on the hunt. We, finds the bog empty site so while he dos that she gus in search of dirty water emptying point, she finds that on the top of hill., so we treks up un gets the job done. Well it's tekin ages tu fill me water, slower than normal un hers getting hotter, her hair dripping so her decides to get a comb out of me bathroom tu comb her hair. Well I've never heard anything like it ' Martin, Martin' her shouts 'there's water everywhere ' . He turns up to see her with her hand in the bathroom basin tryin to open the plug un waters quenching round her feet as it cascades down the worktop, via the bathroom cupboards. By now the carpet completely soaked un its just started seeping into the main part of me living area. I know of bin on the road for a while, and I might need a bit of freshening up but there's no need to swamp me. There they am on the hands un knees, dodgy ones at that, tryin to mop it up with towels, up cums me carpets, dripping wet un they empty the cupboards of soaked stuff un dry um out. There is water everywhere. Simple explanation is we travel with plugs in to avoid niffy odours and the bathroom tap was slightly open. When the van is moving the pump is off, but when we stopped to fill up the water was cummin out as fast as goin in! Eventually we gets goin a un hour late.
WET 2
Tu get to the West coast we've gorra gu through a tunnel un boy its a big un to get us the other side of the mountain ⛰, well when we emerges through the other end its like someone turned the lights out. Big black clouds hanging over the tops of the hills the all of a sudden it starts tu rain, un I mean, pelt it down, torrential we all has to slow down cos I cor see where I'm goin, even the silly buggers burning up the outside lane. Then her looks up un the clouds are clearing un there's blue sky agin. He was gettin worried cos this wunt forecast. 10 minutes down the road, blue sky un not a drop of rain on the road. Now I'm not unny wet on the inside I'm wet on the outside.
WET 3
We finally gets to Rovinj un the campsite. Now this is gonna sting a bit cause its huge with loads of facilities they ent gonna use but its the unny one so its here or nowhere. We'll him being him he's got one of these ACSI card things or cheap deals at sites in off season unny problem is off-season end tomorra. One-night at €25 un the other ar €65, bit of a of a difference in it. It ud better be good, they can pick their own pitch un plumps for 241, bit sloping but that's what me blocks is fur. They get started on sorting out the flood. Me carpets am put outside to dry in the sun un he gets down on his hand and knees agin to see what damage ad bin done. Well l think we've got away with it, it seems dry so they puts everything back, as a drink, as yoy do, un they starts tu relax. After a while they gus un leaves me to soak up the sun while they explore the site, it's got it's own beach so he's changed into his trunks un thems going for a dip. She has a paddle un he as a swim, it's beautiful clear water un it ay too cold so that's good. They cun se the town them hoping tu visit tommora, by water taxi. Then they as a walk past the bar, cafe, restaurant and swimming pool before heading back for dinner un a drink, un it wasn't Water!!!Read more

OMG!! Werta werta evryweir an nair a drop tu drink!! Oh Bertie, you poor thing, still glad to hear they got you sorted out, cleaned and dried and no lasting damage. I can just picture the scene with Debs hand in the sink shouting Martin 🤣 moral of the sorry tale.....add to check lisr to check your plugs! Sorry about your second soak too, but blue skies prevailed.......2nd moral do trust foreign forecasts! 3rd soaking - up the sunshine was much better and I'd have been in that beautiful water too bet it was warmer than Llandudno on Monday 🤣 Can't wait to see pictures of Deb in the water taxi, she's getting brave in her "oldER" age!! Last moral.....when in doubt, have a dip and libation....cheers 🍾🍺🍻🥃🧃🧉🍹🍸🍷🥂 [Fiona]

Opatija, on the Adriatic

Well today thems goin fur a bike ride to Opatija, well u knows what hers like, worries about traffic un busy roads un such like but he says it's alright cause we con bike along the prom. Okay her ses so they start with biking down hill to the main rode, then onto the pavement, but no bikes on the prom the sign says.
So they meks the decision tu ride on the road till they finds a road down to the front. Not a good idea, narrow roads, foreign drivers and no turning to the front. In the end they, or rather he, ends up walking the bike's down sum steep steps to get them where they wanna be. That was hard work so they needs a rest un drink tu recover.
Bikes locked to the railings they walks along the prom. It's a nice place but would look better in full sun, It's a bit overcast. They continues along the prom and comes across the smallest harbour ever, about 5 small boats all being watched over by a bronze statue of a fisherman.
There's a liner in dock, so her looks it up on Google, it's touring the Adriatic Coast, leaving at 5. It's not the biggest they've ever seen but it look luvely floating in the bay.
After Slovenia this part of Croatia known as Istria has many resemblences with the Italian lakes with many fine buildings which are mostly hotels. There are no small sites to stop at and very few cyclists on the roads, totally different to other places, here they are huge camping complexes with all facilities and a price to reflect that.
After walking through the gardens he decides he want sum grub, well same old story, they can never find anywhere when they wants to. He spots a bar un cafe un decides to go there, two beers and a pizza between em goes down luvely.
Time to get back un they dow like the thought of riding along the road so they walks the bike along the prom, its a lovely walk, halfway they stop tu watch the cruise ship leave port then back up the hill, she has to stop un teck a run at it but the gets they home, safe, just think of the body magic, now thems ready for a decent pint.Read more

Beautiful views across the bay, it looks lovely. Shame you couldn't ride the prom and daresay that Martin will be put tip on suitable sites to let others know! Love the fisherman, I could sit and while away time with him. Glad your knees holding up and with all the walking no worse. Mark just about managed around London but good job we did bus tours! Keep the photos coming, I'm going to look for a map today to follow your route! [Fiona]

Postojna Cave.

Well it was a leisurely start to the morning for them and after having all me abloushions done, you know, new water, get rid of old water un empty the bog wem on toward Croatia. 🇭🇷 Well let's face it we've gorra get out of Slovenia before the match tonight just in case England 🏴 slaughter them and the Slovaks take umbrage with us Brits , no chance of that tho.
We need to top up on a few bits but notices the supermarkets am shut, strange we thinks on a Tuesday, then after seeing some flags flying and remembered the military in Ljubljana they realise its Slovenia Day, a bit like a Bank Holiday to you un me. So that'll have to wait till Croatia.
On route Weem stopping off at the Postojna Caves, them supposed to be the top bollox of caves as he puts it. After shoehorning me into a tight space on the car park off they gus un leaves me wiv some fancy outfits. I hopes they enjoys it cause what wi entrance un parking fee, he wow like that, they dow get much change out of €70. And bugger me it's starting pissin down.
They as tu tek a train inside the cave for 1.5 km to get um tu the start of the tour, in some parts its so low yum lucky not tu nock yu bonce, then they as tu walk. Well they went up un up, then they ad tu cum down, no steps, just a steady slope. Well wi them two un their dodgy knees yow con guess all the cussing that was goin on. But they both agreed it was well wuth it. We'll see tomorrow if they still agree.
The cave was amazing, the biggest them ever bin in, puts Kinver to shame. Any roads, the stalactites un stalagmites things is enormous. There's even a chamber which ull hold 10,000 people, un they holds concerts in there. God knows how long it ull tek to get um all there. Its even got an underground Post Office where yu cun buy a post card wi a special stamp. They've found living animals , well fish, in the water in the caves, funny things translucent skin un no eyes, the calls um Baby Dragons. Its really quite amazing un they'll goo a lung way afor they finds another cave us good us this .
Onwards now to Croatia un the coast, I cor wait tu see the sea. Weem going tu Opatija on a real campsite, it'll be great to feel some grass under me wheels instead of concrete for a change.Read more

Ljubljana

Bit rainy to start with, but stopped soon so they walk across to their own private double sized bendy bus, every 10 minutes for £1, and sit in isolation for a few stops till they are joined by other passengers.
Ljubljana is a very compact city for a capital and he's got his guide book out to walk er round the sights. The river is much like a small canal really with various bridges to cross and some lovely buildings. So as in Salzburg there is a funicular ride to be enjoyed, and a couple of nice craft beers to cool down in a bar afterwards.
On they go and they discover the city is a delight, car free, lovely shops for herself and ultimately a bar with a huge, selection of draft craft beers by the river for himself - thanks ChatGPT for the tip off!
A nice pizza is had, and after a diversion for the military preparing for Slovenia Day tomorrow, and bus ride back and they have had a grand day out in the very beautiful capital.Read more

Skofja Loka

Today Weem heading off towards Ljubljana, the capital.
To be honest Slovenia has been a culture shock after Austria, Especially when we went to drive through Kranj, gone are the individually styled house's with their ornate wooden balconies with window boxes filled with beautiful coloured flowers. Now we have rows of the same houses in dull greys and creams and blocks of high rise buildings , we were going to stop for a look around but we kept on driving.
As we got out into the countryside a little more things started to change and we came across the lovely little town of Skofja Loka.
We parked up in the car park on a dedicated Motorhome pitch and bonus, its free parking on Sunday, Off to explore, there's a river runs through the tow which is reportedly the oldest preserved bridge in Europe dating back some 700 years. The town has a quaint little church and a restaurant serving Real Ale, well we had to try some. Then back to the van on on to tonight's stop at the Motorhome Park in Stanwick right next to the Park and Ride ready for tomorrow's visit to the capital.Read more

Lake Bled

After a lazy morning un a trip over to the supermarket to stock up them pair finally gets their arses in gear un gets the bikes down so's they can go down tu the lake.
They are gonna cycle around the lake, yeh right, about a 4 mile loop. It's starts out a bit tricky as there are so many people about, well it is Saturday un the sun's out, but soon it thins out un they can get in their stride, except her wants to stop un tek a picture of the church with the sun on it. The church is in the middle of the lake, only accessible by boats rowed by oarsmen standing on the back of the boats. Well by the time hers off ur bike got the phone out un got ready to tek the pictures the sun's gone in, this is gonna be the theme of the day.
There's a couple of dedicated bathing areas one with slides un water play activities the other with grass un swimming area's. Apparently this is where the Olympic team practise as there is pictures and memorials in one section of the lake.
Well they meks it most of the way round then cycle track runs out so its onto the road but there's an awful lot of traffic, round the bend they finds out why, road works, a man standing with a stop/go board directing traffic, this is a good place to stop for an ice cream.
After refreshments they carry-on and finally meks it back to Bled and to the pub they found yesterday, after a libation, well again if would be rude not to, they heads home for a rest.
Tonight they gets themselves all togged up un walks a little way into town for a meal, popular place, they as tu wait about 15mins for a table but it was worth it. He has a mixed platter of sausage and meat un she as the equivalent to a mixed grill, then it's back um to see who wins at the dice game.Read more
