Architectural details like this are all over Paris. I'm loving the older details, like this, mixed in with the modern city of Paris. This is a look at a door on the streets of Paris. Most of them are not this elaborate but nearly every door here has a round knob, or handle, in the exact center of the door. I thought that this was kind of strange. If the knob is in the center of the door, you need to put forth a lot more energy to open it. I think, with the door knob on the side, you are able to have much more leverage. I guess the centered knobs work for them but it's a bit off to me. It reminds me of the Hobbit doors in Lord of the Rings. Their door knobs are centered also.Read more
