The city of New Orleans looks the same as it did yesterday but things in our room aren’t the same at all. After waking up, we found out that our hotel room had no electricity or running water. We called the front desk and was told that this problem was affecting the entire hotel!Read more

We obviously can’t stay in a hotel room with no electricity or water so Kathy began working on finding us another place to stay. We’re very lucky that she works in the travel industry. She’s got a lot more resources to find a room than the average person.Read more

Kathy found us a room quicker than I expected. There was a football game in the city last night causing nearly all the hotels to be fully booked. I never knew the New Orleans Saints were so popular! Well, I’m just happy that we have another place to go. Let’s start packing!Read more

When we checked out of our room. We were told that we weren’t going to be charged anything because of there being no electricity or water. There’s lots of repair trucks outside the building. At least Hotel Indigo seems to be taking this problem seriously.Read more

This was a nice hotel, and I’m sorry that we’re leaving, but electricity and water are both necessities that we need. Hopefully we’ll stay here again sometime and things will work out better. If nothing else, this hotel has given us a story that we can tell for the rest of our lives.Read more

After finishing breakfast, we noticed that the problems at Hotel Indigo still weren’t resolved. Now, they have a car blocking a street filled with service vehicles. I wonder how this all started.

I was kind of surprised to find the hotel lobby was a bit crowded. I wonder how many of these people have come here from Hotel Indigo, like we did. The staff at the front desk was very efficient and we soon had a pair of keys to our new hotel room.Read more

I’m seeing more and more hotels doing this now. They leave on the television and it has a greeting with the guests name on it. I think it’s a nice idea and makes the room seem more personal and inviting.Read more

Two Beds?!

Even worse than our nonexistent view was the fact that this room was furnished with two double beds rather than just one king sized, or even queen, bed. I can’t even remember the last time Kathy and I slept in separate beds but, as I said before, it’s just for this one night. We had to change our hotel so suddenly that I guess we’re lucky to have found anything at all!Read more

As we left our new hotel, I noticed this design on the sidewalk of the building next door. Are we staying right beside Scrooge McDuck’s money bin? The bin holds 3 cubic acres of cash and this building doesn’t look quite that big. Maybe this is Uncle Scrooge’s annex bin or something like that.Read more

The first place we came to as we walked down Canal Street was Harrah’s Casino. We thought it would be a great place to cool down and enjoy the air conditioning. It’s still early in the day but it’s already heating up. It’s always so hot in New Orleans!Read more
