Craps
8 de noviembre de 2022, Estados Unidos ⋅ ☀️ 82 °F
Craps is a casino game that I’ve never understood at all. Once, one of the casino workers running the craps table explained how the game is played but I still didn’t get it. He was very patientLeer más
Walking the Floor
8 de noviembre de 2022, Estados Unidos ⋅ ☀️ 82 °F
Harrah’s New Orleans is so empty compared to the Harrah’s, and other casinos, in Las Vegas. Admittedly it’s still kind of early, but the places in Vegas are crowded 24-7. All the open space hereLeer más
Playing the Slots
8 de noviembre de 2022, Estados Unidos ⋅ ☀️ 84 °F
Playing the slot machines is probably my favorite thing to do in the casino. I usually don’t win very much, if at all, but I have fun with it.
Little Gambler
8 de noviembre de 2022, Estados Unidos ⋅ ☀️ 84 °F
After seeing how much fun I was having, Groot had to try the slot machines for himself. He was instantly hooked! He enjoyed himself even though he didn’t win anything.
Evil Jester
8 de noviembre de 2022, Estados Unidos ⋅ ☀️ 84 °F
I know that this jester figure is meant to look festive and impart the flavor of New Orleans but there’s something about this jester that looks very evil. I think it’s the grin and eyebrows. ThisLeer más
Lose the Barricades!
8 de noviembre de 2022, Estados Unidos ⋅ ☀️ 84 °F
This would be a great photo opportunity for selfies or pictures of couples if it wasn’t for the barricades around it. Roping this tiny steamboat off ruins it’s appeal and fun feeling. WhoeverLeer más
Chinese Dragon
8 de noviembre de 2022 ⋅ ☀️ 84 °F
This dragon doesn’t really seem to fit in with the rest of the decor in the casino but it certainly does look festive. I’m glad that they knew to go with red, a lucky color, for the dragon.
So Beautiful!
8 de noviembre de 2022, Estados Unidos ⋅ 🌩️ 84 °F
Kathy always looks extra beautiful in scenes like this. I’m thinking that, since she’s Chinese, she looks so natural in an Asian setting like this.
Trumpet
8 de noviembre de 2022, Estados Unidos ⋅ 🌩️ 84 °F
When we left Harrah’s, we used their back entrance and saw this sculpture as we stepped outside. It’s an abstract and stylized trumpet. It’s a good choice for public art since trumpets featureLeer más
Riverwalk
8 de noviembre de 2022, Estados Unidos ⋅ ☀️ 84 °F
Just across the street from Harrah’s is Riverwalk. This is basically just an outlet mall with a food court. It’s a bit early for lunch right now but a snack would be nice. Let’s go see what’sLeer más
Snack Time!
8 de noviembre de 2022, Estados Unidos ⋅ ☀️ 84 °F
Our first stop at Riverwalk was Cafe du Monde. We found that the beignets here are actually better than the ones served at the original, more popular, location.
So Thirsty!
8 de noviembre de 2022, Estados Unidos ⋅ ☀️ 84 °F
One thing I really like about this branch of Cafe du Monde, which the main branch doesn’t have, is unlimited access to free ice water. In a city as hot as New Orleans, I would think that cold waterLeer más
Good Stuff!
8 de noviembre de 2022, Estados Unidos ⋅ ☀️ 84 °F
Everyone loves beignets! Each serving consists of three beignets covered in powered sugar. Three is enough for Kathy and I to share but I certainly wouldn’t object to another serving!
Is Quality Slipping?
8 de noviembre de 2022, Estados Unidos ⋅ ☀️ 84 °F
While still very good, I remember the beignets here being better than this. I remember them being quite a bit larger too! The ones being served now are harder and not as airy as they used to be.Leer más
Still Tasty
8 de noviembre de 2022, Estados Unidos ⋅ ☀️ 84 °F
No matter what we think of the beignets, Groot still loves them. He’ll eat pretty much anything though. It’s not really that they taste bad, they just taste different from what we experienced onLeer más
Cafe DuMonde
8 de noviembre de 2022, Estados Unidos ⋅ ☀️ 84 °F
I think that we prefer this location of Cafe DuMonde over the original one in the French Quarter. Yes, the other one feels more authentic, but this one is not as crowded and, being indoors, we don’tLeer más
From Farm to Table
8 de noviembre de 2022, Estados Unidos ⋅ ☁️ 84 °F
As we were leaving Riverwalk shopping center, I saw this sign hanging in one of the windows of a candy shop. I like candy corn, in limited amounts, and found this sign to be very clever andLeer más
Waiting
8 de noviembre de 2022, Estados Unidos ⋅ ☁️ 84 °F
We decided to go see the French Market and, rather than use a taxi, we’re going to take one of the trolley cars. I always enjoy riding the trolleys while we’re in New Orleans. It’s such a uniqueLeer más
Where’s the Trolly?
8 de noviembre de 2022, Estados Unidos ⋅ ☁️ 84 °F
I’m hoping that we won’t have to wait much longer for the streetcar to come. We’ve got some shade to stand under but the temperature is still so warm. If it’s this warm now, I’m really happyLeer más
All Aboard!
8 de noviembre de 2022, Estados Unidos ⋅ ☁️ 84 °F
It didn’t take all that long for the streetcar to come but it felt longer because we were waiting. We’re now on our way to the French Market. I really enjoy riding these streetcars around NewLeer más
French Market
8 de noviembre de 2022, Estados Unidos ⋅ ☁️ 84 °F
Similar to some European markets, this historically charming open-air market features shopping, dining, music and local tradition that is uniquely New Orleans. From Cafe du Monde near Jackson SquareLeer más
Corn on the Cob
8 de noviembre de 2022, Estados Unidos ⋅ ☁️ 84 °F
The first thing we did, when we got to the French Market, was to get an ear of roasted Cajun corn. The corn is made with a selection of spices and seasonings that give it such a delicious flavor.Leer más
So Tasty!
8 de noviembre de 2022, Estados Unidos ⋅ 🌩️ 84 °F
The corn is just as tasty as we remembered it being the last time we were here. Unlike the beignets at Cafe Du Monde, at least this still tastes the same.
Mardi Gras Masks
8 de noviembre de 2022, Estados Unidos ⋅ 🌩️ 84 °F
Souvenirs of New Orleans, like these masks, are primarily what is sold at the French Market. For whatever reason, the sellers are all very grouchy about cameras and won’t allow any photos to beLeer más
Shucking Oysters
8 de noviembre de 2022, Estados Unidos ⋅ ☁️ 82 °F
Shucking Oysters looks like a difficult and time consuming job. I would imagine it’s kind of dangerous too. If they slip with the knife they use to pry the shells open, it could cause some nasty cuts.
