Cafe Fleur-de-lis

We found the restaurant that we’re going to eat at but, unfortunately, we were told the the wait for a table was around 45 minutes. We decided to wait so our phone number was taken and were toldLäs mer
Follow the Blue Glow

After a walk around the block for some window shopping, we were back at Cafe Fleury-de-lis. We noticed there was a W Hotel right across the street with an outdoor seating area that looked veryLäs mer
Where’s Waldo?

Since we’re settling down to wait for a table to open up at Cafe Fleur-de-lis, I decided to go a little toy photography. This Where’s Waldo duck seems to fit in perfectly by the fountain.
Kathy

Kathy used the free time to use her phone, talk with me and simply relax. Relaxation is a great idea. We’re both still tired and, since we’re on a short vacation, we should be relaxing.
Let’s Get Our Table!

Kathy just got a call saying that our table is ready at Cafe Fleur-de-lis. Let’s hurry up back there beg the table is given to somebody else!
Banana Tree

Taking a last look around this hotel’s courtyard, I noticed this banana tree growing along the wall. It’s so nice that people are able to grow them here. I wish that I could grow one back home butLäs mer
Happy

We’re finally seated at our table! I’m so happy that I feel like bouncing!
Perusing the Menu

The menu of Cafe Fleur-de-Lis looks very good. There’s several options that are very tempting to me. I’ll have to decide soon though. I’m so hungry!
So Thirsty!

Sightseeing anywhere in the south, no matter what time of the year it is, makes me very thirsty. I was so grateful to have ice water brought to the table as soon as we sat down. I drank severalLäs mer
Brunch

Our food came quickly but, unfortunately, not everything was to my liking. The eggs and sausages were great but the biscuits and gravy were awful. The gravy was very thin and watery, not at all likeLäs mer
Dry Pancakes

Kathy wasn’t thrilled with her breakfast either. Her pancakes were very dry and even letting them sit in the syrup for a bit didn’t help moisten them up. I offered her my pancakes butLäs mer
Writing Postcards

After we finished eating, Kathy wrote out a postcard for Jessica back home. I was surprised because I think this is the first time that I’ve ever seen Kathy sending anyone a postcard. I’m usuallyLäs mer
Finished Eating

We’ve finished our meal at Cafe Fleur de Luz and are ready to venture out into New Orleans again. Not only was my meal not very good, it doesn’t seem to be sitting right. I’m hoping that ILäs mer
Christmas Already?

It’s a bit hard to make out the details, but the poles of the street lamps have holiday pine boughs wrapped around them. Not only is it a bit early for Christmas decorations, it looks strange to seeLäs mer

Fortunately, from our last visit to New Orleans, I still remember where to get stamps, and how to send out, Kathy’s postcards. We’re at the FedEx office in the Sheraton hotel on Canal Street. ThisLäs mer
Still Tired

We decided to go back to our hotel room and relax for a bit because we’re both still so tired. These very early flights really seem to take a big toll on us. We decided that we’re not going toLäs mer
An Uber to Dinner

When we woke up we were, understandably, quite hungry. Rather than eating in the French Quarter again, we decided to give somewhere else a try. We’re on the way there now, thanks to Uber.
Katie’s

We went to Katie’s, a place that Kathy found on Yelp with so many great reviews. Being that this place is not in the French Quarter, or other tourist areas, it seems to cater to the locals, which isLäs mer
The Menu

The menu at Katie’s is very good and there’s several selections that I’m very interested to try. Ruby’s Swamp Fries, as an appetizer, sounds like a great place to start!
Swamp Fries

Ruby’s Swamp Fries was a great choice as an appetizer! Kathy and I both enjoyed this so much and quickly finished the whole plate. I usually don’t care for the scallions that are sprinkled on topLäs mer
Happy Diner

Kathy loved her roast beef sandwich. The meat was very thinly sliced, almost like a Philly cheesesteak sandwich. After a lackluster brunch, Katie’s food is a real treat!
Great Food!

Kathy offered me some of her sandwich and, I had to admit, it tasted fantastic! It was so good that I wished that I had ordered it for myself. If we ever come back here, I know what I’m going to get!
Great Service!

Not only was the food delicious but the service was also fantastic. From the other diners we saw eating here, This place seems to cater mostly to the locals. Sometimes it’s nice to get away from theLäs mer
Ready to Leave

With our dinner finished, it’s time for us to reserve an Uber car to take us back to the hotel. We’re too far away from the French Quarter to walk and, at night, an Uber is just a lot safer.
