We’re on the way to New Orleans again! This is going to be a quick trip to pick up our new puppy. Read more
  • Cafe Fleur-de-lis

November 7, 2022 in the United States

We found the restaurant that we’re going to eat at but, unfortunately, we were told the the wait for a table was around 45 minutes. We decided to wait so our phone number was taken and were told that we’d get a call when a table was ready.Read more

  • Follow the Blue Glow

    November 7, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 82 °F

After a walk around the block for some window shopping, we were back at Cafe Fleury-de-lis. We noticed there was a W Hotel right across the street with an outdoor seating area that looked very inviting. These lights lit the way for us.Read more

  • Where’s Waldo?

    November 7, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 82 °F

Since we’re settling down to wait for a table to open up at Cafe Fleur-de-lis, I decided to go a little toy photography. This Where’s Waldo duck seems to fit in perfectly by the fountain.

  • Kathy

    November 7, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 82 °F

Kathy used the free time to use her phone, talk with me and simply relax. Relaxation is a great idea. We’re both still tired and, since we’re on a short vacation, we should be relaxing.

  • Banana Tree

    November 7, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 82 °F

Taking a last look around this hotel’s courtyard, I noticed this banana tree growing along the wall. It’s so nice that people are able to grow them here. I wish that I could grow one back home but our winters are too cold. I wonder if something like this can be grown inside..Read more

  • So Thirsty!

    November 7, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 82 °F

Sightseeing anywhere in the south, no matter what time of the year it is, makes me very thirsty. I was so grateful to have ice water brought to the table as soon as we sat down. I drank several glasses!Read more

  • Brunch

November 7, 2022 in the United States

Our food came quickly but, unfortunately, not everything was to my liking. The eggs and sausages were great but the biscuits and gravy were awful. The gravy was very thin and watery, not at all like it’s supposed to be, and it tasted a bit strange. I ate a bit of it but didn’t care for it at all.Read more

  • Dry Pancakes

    November 7, 2022 in the United States ⋅ 🌩️ 82 °F

Kathy wasn’t thrilled with her breakfast either. Her pancakes were very dry and even letting them sit in the syrup for a bit didn’t help moisten them up. I offered her my pancakes but unfortunately they were very dry also.Read more

  • Writing Postcards

    November 7, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 84 °F

After we finished eating, Kathy wrote out a postcard for Jessica back home. I was surprised because I think this is the first time that I’ve ever seen Kathy sending anyone a postcard. I’m usually the one who takes care of things like that. Jessica asked her to send one though.Read more

  • Finished Eating

    November 7, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 84 °F

We’ve finished our meal at Cafe Fleur de Luz and are ready to venture out into New Orleans again. Not only was my meal not very good, it doesn’t seem to be sitting right. I’m hoping that I don’t get sick later.Read more

  • Christmas Already?

    November 7, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 84 °F

It’s a bit hard to make out the details, but the poles of the street lamps have holiday pine boughs wrapped around them. Not only is it a bit early for Christmas decorations, it looks strange to see pine boughs in such a warm area. I wonder how much more decorations will go up as we get closer to the holiday season.Read more

  • Satchmo

    November 7, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 84 °F

Fortunately, from our last visit to New Orleans, I still remember where to get stamps, and how to send out, Kathy’s postcards. We’re at the FedEx office in the Sheraton hotel on Canal Street. This statue of Louis Armstrong was standing right out of the hotel’s lobby. It’s a nice touch!Read more

  • Still Tired

    November 7, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 84 °F

We decided to go back to our hotel room and relax for a bit because we’re both still so tired. These very early flights really seem to take a big toll on us. We decided that we’re not going to take those early flights anymore. Yes, they are a bit less expensive but it’s not worth it if we’re so exhausted and don’t want to do anything but sleep.Read more

  • An Uber to Dinner

    November 7, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 79 °F

When we woke up we were, understandably, quite hungry. Rather than eating in the French Quarter again, we decided to give somewhere else a try. We’re on the way there now, thanks to Uber.

  • Katie’s

    November 7, 2022 in the United States ⋅ 🌙 79 °F

We went to Katie’s, a place that Kathy found on Yelp with so many great reviews. Being that this place is not in the French Quarter, or other tourist areas, it seems to cater to the locals, which is the kind of place that we’re looking to try. Many of the touristy restaurants are great but it’s nice to see where the local people eat too.Read more

  • The Menu

    November 7, 2022 in the United States ⋅ 🌙 79 °F

The menu at Katie’s is very good and there’s several selections that I’m very interested to try. Ruby’s Swamp Fries, as an appetizer, sounds like a great place to start!

  • Swamp Fries

    November 7, 2022 in the United States ⋅ 🌙 77 °F

Ruby’s Swamp Fries was a great choice as an appetizer! Kathy and I both enjoyed this so much and quickly finished the whole plate. I usually don’t care for the scallions that are sprinkled on top of the fries but, in this case, I didn’t mind them at all.Read more

  • Great Food!

    November 7, 2022 in the United States ⋅ 🌙 77 °F

Kathy offered me some of her sandwich and, I had to admit, it tasted fantastic! It was so good that I wished that I had ordered it for myself. If we ever come back here, I know what I’m going to get!

  • Great Service!

    November 7, 2022 in the United States ⋅ 🌙 77 °F

Not only was the food delicious but the service was also fantastic. From the other diners we saw eating here, This place seems to cater mostly to the locals. Sometimes it’s nice to get away from the more popular and touristy spots. It allows us to discover hidden gems like this one.Read more

  • Ready to Leave

    November 7, 2022 in the United States ⋅ 🌙 77 °F

With our dinner finished, it’s time for us to reserve an Uber car to take us back to the hotel. We’re too far away from the French Quarter to walk and, at night, an Uber is just a lot safer.
