  • Off They Go!

    2 mei 2023, Verenigde Staten ⋅ ☁️ 45 °F

I would have been happy just to see a real Chicago firehouse but to see them going out on an actual call was an unexpected bonus! I had been thinking about dropping in at the firehouse, just to visit, but I’m sure nobody is there right now. Duty comes first!Meer informatie

  • Ready to Eat

    2 mei 2023, Verenigde Staten ⋅ ☁️ 46 °F

Kathy is starting to get a bit grumpy which tells me that she’s really hungry. With all the traveling, and exploring, we’ve done today, that’s completely understandable. I hope our food is ready soon!

  • Very Tasty!

    2 mei 2023, Verenigde Staten ⋅ ☁️ 46 °F

Kathy decided to get herself a pasta dish rather then having pizza. She tasted the pizza though and decided that, while it was very good, New York’s pizza is a little bit better. I didn’t taste much difference. I guess it all depends on what we’re used to.Meer informatie

  • Benny Says…

    2 mei 2023, Verenigde Staten ⋅ ☁️ 46 °F

We found out that, contrary to popular belief, the people of Chicago actually don’t care for the deep dish pizza their city has become so famous for. The people who eat it are immediately seen as tourists looking to experience the “Real Chicago”.Meer informatie

  • Chase

    2 mei 2023, Verenigde Staten ⋅ ☁️ 46 °F

We’ve got plenty of Chase bank locations back home but I’ve never seen any of them like this one. The blue lights really catch the eye and it’s pulsating glow is amazing! This looks like a giant DNA strand.Meer informatie

  • We’re Back!

    2 mei 2023, Verenigde Staten ⋅ ☁️ 46 °F

We made it back to our hotel much faster than we had expected to. When going out, if felt like we had walked so far but coming back only took a matter of minutes. Thank you, Google Maps!

  • Light Trails

    2 mei 2023, Verenigde Staten ⋅ ☁️ 46 °F

I was able to get a long enough exposure of the street outside our hotel to get some good light trails. I wasn’t sure if something like this was possible using an iPhone but I’m trying to squeeze every trick I can out of this phone. It’s so much more convenient traveling with just a phone rather than a heavy backpack filled with camera gear.Meer informatie

  • Marina City

    3 mei 2023, Verenigde Staten ⋅ ☁️ 41 °F

Still curious about these buildings, I did a bit of research and found out that the two towers are called Marina City. It’s a mixed use residential-commercial building complex that was opened between 1963 and 1967. The towers' symbolic similarity to rural Illinois corncobs has often been noticed.Meer informatie

  • The Corner Bakery

    3 mei 2023, Verenigde Staten ⋅ ⛅ 43 °F

We took a short walk over to the Corner Bakery to have breakfast. We’ve never heard of this place before but, apparently, there’s a chain of them here in Chicago. They seem to be a little more than Dunkn Donuts but less than a diner. As long as they taste good we’ll be fine with it.Meer informatie

  • Breakfast Sandwich

    3 mei 2023, Verenigde Staten ⋅ ⛅ 43 °F

My choice for breakfast was the bacon, egg and cheese sandwich on sourdough bread. On paper this sounds delicious but it tasted a bit off. I can’t tell if it’s the taste of the sourdough bread or the cheese used was a very sharp cheddar but, whatever it was, the tastes just didn’t mesh well together. I ended up just eating the bacon and eggs on their own and leaving the bread and cheese. I really wanted to like this sandwich, too. Hopefully lunch will be better.Meer informatie

  • On Our Way

    3 mei 2023, Verenigde Staten ⋅ ☁️ 45 °F

Now that we’ve had breakfast, and are feeling comfortably full, we’re on our way to the Free Tours by Foot tour of the Loop and Millennium Park. It starts at 10:00am so we should just about make it.

  • The Red Line

    3 mei 2023, Verenigde Staten ⋅ ☁️ 45 °F

Kathy made it back just in time for the tour to start. I was surprised by how quickly she made it to the hotel and then back again. Here’s the red line train station, right beside the Chicago Theater. We were looking for it last night when we went to Chinatown but couldn’t find it. We had thought all of Chicago’s trains are elevated but the red line, apparently, goes underground.Meer informatie
