  • A World Wonder

    30 de septiembre de 2018, China ⋅ 70 °F

In September 1987, the Terracotta Army was praised as the Eighth Wonder of the World by the former French President Jacques Chirac.
He said: "There were Seven Wonders in the world, and the discovery of the Terracotta Army, we may say, is the eighth miracle of the world. No one who has not seen the pyramids can claim to have visited Egypt, and now I'd say that no one who has not seen these terracotta figures can claim to have visited China."Leer más

  • The Dig

    30 de septiembre de 2018, China ⋅ 72 °F

This is the largest and most impressive of the three vaults. It’s around the size of an airplane hangar. There are over 6,000 terracotta figures of soldiers and horses here but less than 2,000 are out on display. Many, like these, are still being excavated.Leer más

  • More to Find

    30 de septiembre de 2018, China ⋅ 72 °F

The terracotta army is only part of a garrison in Qin Shi Huang's mausoleum, which covers nearly 56 square kilometers. Most of it still remains unearthed. Excavation and restoration of terracotta figures is currently ongoing. More terracotta figures are still being unearthed every day.Leer más

  • Indiana Jones

    30 de septiembre de 2018, China ⋅ ☁️ 68 °F

You call him Doctor Jones, doll! My Indiana Jones Lego figure fit in perfectly here. I’ve since moved on from the Legos and now use full sized figures. I can think of so many other choices that I would have liked to use here. Hopefully we’ll come back one day and I’ll have a chance to reshoot this scene with some other figures.Leer más

  • Ready to Go

    30 de septiembre de 2018, China ⋅ ☁️ 68 °F

We’re just about ready to leave the terracotta warriors excavation and I’m still so impressed by it. I could easily spend all day here but we’ve got to stay with our tour group. I’m sure that there’s still so much more for us to see here.Leer más

  • Post Box

    30 de septiembre de 2018, China ⋅ ☁️ 68 °F

Believe it or not, this is an actual mailbox! I’ve never seen such a cute and colorful mailbox before and I really like this one. I didn’t even notice it at first. This is one of Kathy’s shots.

  • Chariots

    30 de septiembre de 2018, China ⋅ ☁️ 72 °F

This museum seems to hold more complete pieces that have been it back together after being excavated. It’s like putting together a very difficult puzzle with no idea what the final outcome might be.

  • At the Exit

    30 de septiembre de 2018, China ⋅ ☁️ 72 °F

There’s more of these signs near the museum’s exit. The writing looks similar but I can’t make any of it out other than numbers. I’m guessing that the numbers are probably years. Although Kathy can speak Chinese, she can’t read it. It’s too bad that she can’t translate this for me.Leer más

  • Back Outside

    30 de septiembre de 2018, China ⋅ ☁️ 72 °F

I’m surprised that a site as historic and important as this isn’t more crowded. I suppose that the locals have seen it many times already and perhaps tourism in China is not as widespread as it is across America and Europe. That’s too bad because there’s so much to see here. To me, this is the trip of a lifetime!Leer más

  • Ready to Go

    30 de septiembre de 2018, China ⋅ ☁️ 72 °F

We’re getting ready to leave the terracotta warriors excavation site and I’m feeling sad about that. I feel like I didn’t see everything yet and I’m wishing that we could stay a bit longer. I’m hoping so much that we’ll come back here one day.Leer más

  • Ready for Lunch

    30 de septiembre de 2018, China ⋅ ☁️ 72 °F

As we walked to the restaurant where we were intended to have lunch, everyone was chatting about the terracotta warriors. While everyone enjoyed it, I was surprised that none of them were as impressed by them as I was. I hope that I never become so jaded and blasé.Leer más
