  • Airport Market

    November 5, 2023 in Iceland ⋅ 🌬 37 °F

We got our food from this small market inside the airport. Only people who are still traveling are allowed to shop here, which I found strange. To make sure, you even have to scan your boarding pass to be able to make a purchase.Read more

  • Great Prices!

    November 5, 2023 in Iceland ⋅ 🌬 37 °F

One thing that really surprised me about this little market was that the prices were very reasonable and in line with the average delicatessen or 7-11. Food prices at airports are usually astronomical so this was a nice surprise.Read more

  • Trolls!

    November 5, 2023 in Iceland ⋅ 🌬 37 °F

I knew that Iceland had a lot of stories and legends about trolls but I never expected to see one of them at the airport! I’d love to find out more about these mythical creatures.

  • Boarding

    November 5, 2023 in Iceland ⋅ 🌬 37 °F

We’re boarding the plane now but, as always, there seems to a some sort of delay getting from the jetway onto the plane itself. What is the problem? If everyone has got on in an orderly manner, things would move a lot quicker.Read more

  • A Window Seat

    November 5, 2023 in Iceland ⋅ 🌬 37 °F

I’ve got a window seat for the last leg of our flight. I’m happy that I’m able to look out the window and take pictures but the aisle seat is also great because it allows me to get up and walk around. Somehow, it feels a bit roomier also. I’m torn as to which one I prefer.Read more

  • Found Our Seats

    November 5, 2023 in Iceland ⋅ 🌬 37 °F

We were among the first group of people to board the plane. I guess, for this flight, it doesn’t really matter since we don’t have any carryon baggage to put in the overhead bin. I do like not having to deal with all that crowding in the aisle though.Read more

  • Ready to Go

    November 5, 2023 in Iceland ⋅ 🌬 37 °F

Groot’s ready to leave Iceland, for now, and fly on to London. Groot is always traveling with us now. He can be a lot of fun and he’s always a great source of good photos. He’s my favorite, and most photographed, figure.Read more

  • Lights Out!

    November 5, 2023 in Iceland ⋅ 🌬 37 °F

The lights just went off so I’m guessing that’s our signal that it’s time for us to take off. I’m hoping to sleep for a bit before we land in London. Despite being very tired, I doubt it’ll happen though.Read more

  • Bye, Reykjavik!

    November 5, 2023 in Iceland ⋅ 🌬 37 °F

This is exactly why I love to sit in the window seat while flying. The aisle is more convenient but views like this are unforgettable. Compared to other cities we’ve flown over, Reykjavik looks very small but no less impressive than the other places we’ve seen.Read more

  • Comes the Dawn

    November 5, 2023 in Iceland ⋅ 🌬 37 °F

Although it’s a bit past 8:30, it’s still very dark in Iceland. It’s interesting to see that that they have a daily cycle that’s so different from what we’re used to. I’m so eager to experience this when we get back to Iceland.Read more

  • Sunrise

    November 5, 2023 in Iceland ⋅ 🌬 37 °F

How often do you get to watch a sunrise while so high up in the sky? It’s such a rare opportunity but, as I look around the plane, almost nobody is appreciative of this spectacular view. Everyone should slow down and enjoy the simple pleasures that surround them.Read more

  • Getting Close

    November 5, 2023 in England ⋅ ☀️ 52 °F

I was relaxing, but not sleeping, for a while now and I’m seeing that it’s nearly time for us to land at Heathrow Airport. I’m tired but excited! I’m looking forward to being back on the ground.

  • First Look

    November 5, 2023 in England ⋅ ☀️ 54 °F

This is my first look at London. From up here, it looks, pretty much, like every other big city. I’m just really happy that I got a window seat this time so I can enjoy views like this.

  • We’ve Landed

    November 5, 2023 in England ⋅ ☀️ 54 °F

We just landed at Heathrow Airport and we’re now headed to whatever gate we’ve been assigned. The weather looks great! I’m excited to be back in England. It’s been a long time…

  • The Big Rush

    November 5, 2023 in England ⋅ ☀️ 54 °F

This is the worst part of a flight, in my opinion. As soon as we get to the gate, everyone is in such a rush to get up and then just stand there, crowding the aisle, until the gate is opened. This usually takes a while so I’m just going to stay seated until we actually start moving.Read more

  • Luggage Handling

    November 5, 2023 in England ⋅ ☀️ 54 °F

While waiting to get off the plane, I’m watching the baggage handlers take care of the luggage. They are fast and efficient but not very gentle with the passengers bags. I haven’t seen ours come out yet but I hope they treat them properly.Read more

  • Long Lines

    November 5, 2023 in England ⋅ ☀️ 54 °F

We’re off the plane, inside Heathrow Airport, and now waiting on the passport control line. I feel like nearly everything about traveling involves waiting on long lines. It’s frustrating but necessary, I suppose.Read more

  • Moving Quickly

    November 5, 2023 in England ⋅ ☀️ 54 °F

We’re moving through this line faster than I thought we would. I usually dread these lines but this time it’s not so bad. I hope it’s this easy when we get back to Iceland.

  • Where’s Our Bags?

    November 5, 2023 in England ⋅ ☀️ 54 °F

We’re out of the immigration area and ready to pick up our bags. I’m disappointed that we didn’t have our passports stamped, since I like collecting them, but everything is automated here now. I’m guessing that’s how they were able to keep the line moving so fast.Read more

  • Big Empty

    November 5, 2023 in England ⋅ ☀️ 54 °F

We’ve got our bags, but where is everyone else? I had thought that an airport as big and as busy as Heathrow would be packed with people but I guess not. I’m happy not to deal with the crowds though.

  • Now What?

    November 5, 2023 in England ⋅ ☀️ 55 °F

We have all our bags and we’re ready to leave but first we need to figure out the best way to get to our hotel. There are so many options! We’re leaning towards using the underground but getting an Uber sounds good too.Read more
