Where’s Our Gate

The first thing we did after arriving at JFK was to check the board to seethe status of our flight. We got our gate number and, so far, our flight is on time.
In Our Seats

Being that I use a cane now, we were allowed to be among the first passengers to board the plane. I liked that we had no problem struggling to secure space in the overhead bins for our bags. Theもっと詳しく
Trip Routing

I like when the entertainment screen has an option to see the flight’s progress. This one doesn’t look as informative or as polished as the one I saw on Singapore Airlines but it’s still betterもっと詳しく
An Early Start

It’s just about 4:30 in the morning and we’re in our taxi on the way to Kennedy Airport for a trip to Las Vegas. We’re using Lyft this time since their price was less expensive than Uber.
Feeling Sleepy

Kathy and I are sitting across the aisle from each other. I like this arrangement since it allows each of us to have an aisle seat yet we’re still seated together. I still kind of miss a window seatもっと詳しく
Almost There

For whatever reason, this has felt like a quick flight and I’m not very tired despite not getting much sleep. This photo was taken in panoramic mode shooting vertically rather than the moreもっと詳しく
We’ve Landed!

We’ve arrived and are moving through the airport. Las Vegas is the only place I’ve ever seen that has slot machines in their airport. Are people really so desperate to gamble that they can’tもっと詳しく
In A Hurry

These same slot machines are surrounded by glass walls so that people can go inside and smoke. I can’t imagine smoking being allowed anywhere at an airport but they obviously do things differentlyもっと詳しく
Harry Reid International Airport

Despite having that smoking section, the airport in Las Vegas is actually very nice. It’s very open and spacious but maybe a bit empty. I think some more artwork or displays would go a long way here.
More Slots

There’s slot machines all over this airport, not just in that smoking section. They kind of make the place look very crowded and chaotic. I guess there’s no room for art displays after all.
Welcome to Las Vegas

We’re ready to leave the airport, get an Uber, and go to our hotel and settle in. We’re so tired and hungry but we’re ready to have fun!
At the Paris

We didn’t have to wait long for an Uber to take us to our hotel, the Paris Las Vegas. Unfortunately, it was still several hours before check in time so we left our bags with the bell captain andもっと詳しく
Time For Breakfast

Being that we were both very hungry, we agreed that having breakfast would be our first priority. We decided to eat at Hash House A Go Go, at the Linq Hotel and casino. It was a long walk to get thereもっと詳しく
A Great Meal

We’ve eaten at the Hash House A GoGo before and while the food is very good, it’s not quite as good as we remembered it. I think this happens a lot over time. When we experience something, andもっと詳しく
The Casino

Having finished our breakfast, we wandered back into the Linq casino and take a look around. I got myself a chip from the Linq, to add to my growing casino chip collection, but we didn’t do anyもっと詳しく
Where to Next?

Feeling well fed, we’re now considering what to see next. We’d like to do something indoors since it’s so hot outside. It’s 102 degrees out there!
Pizza Machine

I know that lots of different things can be sold in vending machines but I never thought I’d see a vending machine selling pizza! I’m curious to try this but I’m feeling so full right now.もっと詳しく
Sports Book

We’re at the MGM Grand now, having taken the monorail over. There’s lots of seats available at MGM’s sports book so we’re taking a little break. It seems like every sport around the world isもっと詳しく
Nathan Burton’s Magic Show

We’re ready to see our first show in Las Vegas, Nathan Burton, a magician who we’ve seen before. He’s really good at what he does, which is why we’re so eager to see him again. He’s didn’t disappoint!
It’s the Real Thing

After the show, we stopped at the Coca-Cola store for a quick look around. I don’t drink Coke, or any soda for that matter, but I do like their merchandising products. We saw some interesting stuffもっと詳しく
Back to MGM

We’re headed back through the MGM Grand, making our way to the monorail station. MGM is a huge hotel but it looks very empty and gloomy. We’ve stayed here on a past trip and while it was okay, itもっと詳しく
Where is Everybody?

Once again, I’m very surprised by how empty the casino area in the MGM Grand is. I’ve been reading that tourism in Las Vegas is down but I didn’t expect it to be this bad. Why are so many peopleもっと詳しく
Monorail Route

I’m surprised by both how few stops the Las Vegas monorail actually has and how far away the monorail stations are from the hotels they stop at. I love the novelty of riding the monorail but,もっと詳しく
On the Platform

It doesn’t look like too many people ride the monorail. I’m kind of surprised to see these glass walls blocking the platform. I guess it prevents people getting pushed onto the tracks and drunksもっと詳しく
A Car of Our Own

We’ve got the monorail car all to ourselves! Not many people know this, but these monorails are actually the retired ones from Walt Disney World. The seating configuration is completely differentもっと詳しく
