    Snack Time!

    After getting our water, and getting hydrated, we came to the Garrett Popcorn shop. I'm a big popcorn fan and especially enjoy Garrett Popcorn because the flavors are fantastic. They were having a sale, which I'm sure goes on constantly, but, being on vacation, we decided to take advantage of it. We got a bag and also a tin mixed with the cheese popcorn and the buttermilk ranch popcorn. Buttermilk ranch was a new flavor to me and it was a bit spicy but it was just the right amount of kick. Even Kathy enjoyed it and she normally doesn't eat popcorn. I'm going to be enjoying this back in the hotel room tonight!Baca selengkapnya

    Sirrico's Pizza

    Since we still haven't adjusted to the time difference here, we had a short nap in the hotel room and then headed downstairs to find something to have for dinner. I was still feeling full from our meal at Gordon Ramsay's Burger but wanted to eat something before we went to the MGM Grand for the Cirque du Soleil Ka show. She decided on Sirrico's Pizza, right inside the New York New York. It looked like it could pass as real New York pizza and Kathy said that it wasn't bad. I thought that the price was a bit high but that's to be expected inside these big hotels.Baca selengkapnya

    On the Way to Ka

    I'm getting excited that we're going to see Cirque du Soleil Ka. I'm hoping so much that this is going to be a good show. The Cirque du Soleil Beatles show we saw last time was incredible and set a very high standard for other Cirque du Soleil shows to live up to.
    These escalators and overpasses on the sidewalks are a nuisance. They often take you out of your way and I'm noticing that the overpasses have become popular spots for homeless people asking for money. Some of these people are quite loud and aggressive. I'm surprised that the police in Las Vegas don't do anything about them. These homeless people are really bringing down the neighborhood.    Baca selengkapnya

    Ka Musicians

    Before the show, some musicians were playing what looked like giant harps. The music sounds very exotic and really sets the tone for the show. I’m really looking forward to seeing this performance!

    So Disappointing!

    We really wanted to like this show so much but it turned out to be a big disappointment for us. One of the biggest problems the show had was that there was no spoken dialogue other than an occasional line of gibberish in a made up language. Without any words, the storyline was very difficult to follow. Along with the language problem, there was so many characters being introduced throughout the show and, with nothing being said, it was difficult to tell who any of these people were or why they were there. Not caring about any of the characters doesn't really draw you into the show and I often found my mind wandering as I would lose interest in the performance.Baca selengkapnya

    Not Entertaining

    The actors in Ka seemed very good but, unfortunately, they can only do what they are directed and must stay within the boundaries of the show. The acrobatics and fight scenes were exciting, at first, but they were so over long and repetitive that I soon lost interest.     The Stage

    The star of Cirque du Soleil Ka wasn't any of the performers but the stage itself. It was equipped with hydraulics and moved all around the performance area. It moved back and forth and even stood straight up. It's strange that a mere stage can become the stand out of a performance but that's what happened at Ka.     No More Cirque du Soleil

    Since we didn't care for this show, I suggested that we get tickets for a different Cirque du Soleil show on another night but Kathy didn't want to. We spent a lot of money on these tickets and didn't want to take a chance on seeing another bad show. I pointed out that the Beatles Cirque du Soleil show we saw last time was great but she didn't want to see any more shows. Maybe we'll see a better show on our next visit.     Kathy was feeling tired and wanted to get to bed but I was still wide awake so I decided to go out and get some photos.     Excalibur

    Right across the street from our hotel was the Excalibur resort and casino. So far, we've never stayed here but I think that I might like to try it. I know that it's one of the lower end hotels but I really love the architecture. My main complaint about the Excalibur is that, every time we've been inside this resort, it smells very smokey. This is such an annoyance and makes the whole resort seem dirty. I'm sure this is the main reason that we haven't stayed here yet.Baca selengkapnya

    MGM Grand

    I've been standing right by the MGM Grand to take all these photos. We've stayed at this hotel before. It was okay but it's not one of my favorites. This is one of the biggest hotels that we've ever stayed in. So big, in fact, that we had some trouble finding our room at first. That's something that has never happened to us before. Their rooms seem to be going for a modern sort of a look but I think it just makes them look very minimalist and plain. Overall, it's a good place though and we didn't run into any problems here.Baca selengkapnya

    It's not that late but the streets seem very empty. I know that March is not part of the busy season in Las Vegas but I was expecting to see more people than this. I've never seen the Strip so empty.

    It's the Real Thing

    This giant Coca Cola bottle looks great during the day but it's even more impressive at night. I don't drink Coke but, for some reason, I really like Coke merchandise. It's not just Coke either. I don't drink anything that's carbonated. It just doesn't seem to agree with me. This keeps me away from beer too, but that's not actually a bad thing.Baca selengkapnya

    Fat Tuesday

    Once again, I'm left wondering where everyone is. A place like this is usually so busy all the time. Fat Tuesday sells alcoholic slushies in very tall, and narrow, plastic cups. They seem to be very popular because I've been seeing people walking around with them all day. I guess that, maybe, these drinks are considered a day time thing? I must say, I'm enjoying being able to take pictures of Las Vegas without lots of people around. It just feels strange to see things so empty though.Baca selengkapnya

    Walking the Strip

    Las Vegas is the only city I've ever been to where you can't cross the streets. Instead, you have to walk on these overpasses that take you over the street. They are inconvenient and take you out of your way but, I must admit, the views from above the streets are fantastic!Baca selengkapnya

    The Arc de Triomphe

    Francophile shutterbugs may have a difficult time snapping shots of the big arch, as it stands in the middle of the check-in circle for the Paris Las Vegas Hotel-Casino, and there's no place to stand or park without getting some airport shuttle driver angry.     I love all the little touches that the Paris Las Vegas put into the creation of their resort and casino. Things like this rotating sign, all lit up, are on top of each row of slot machines. It really gives the place a festive look as well as a splash of color.Baca selengkapnya

    Table Dancing

    Paris Las Vegas is one of the few casinos that have dancers like this performing by the gaming tables. The only other casino I have seen doing this is Planet Hollywood and that was just one time.     A lot of the art work on the slot machines is quite good. It's almost always very colorful, vibrant and eye-catching. I guess they are designed that way on purpose to lure in potential gamblers. I wonder if I should start a series of slot machine pictures?Baca selengkapnya
