Everyone is Hungry

This place must be really popular because even though we added our name to the list online there was still a wait when we arrived. Hopefully we’ll get inside soon. We’re so hungry!
Ready for Breakfast

It didn’t take very long for us to get a table. It was Kathy’s idea to use the online reservation system and it worked out very well for us. I can’t wait to see a menu. We’re starved!
Just Ordered

The menu here is amazing and each of us found several things that we wanted to try. We’re definitely going to need to come back here again before we leave. I’m hoping that the food it as tasty asLæs mere
Pig Candy Bacon Bites

We’ve never gotten appetizers with breakfast before but something called pig candy bacon bites sounded too interesting to pass up. We got just a single order, to share, and hoped that we would likeLæs mere
Tasty!

I’m so glad that we took a chance on the pig candy bacon appetizer because it was delicious! My only regret is that the portion size was a bit small. I could have eaten a whole plate of this bacon!
Everyone Loves Bacon

This is probably the best tasting bacon that I’ve ever eaten! I’m not sure how it’s prepared but it tastes like it’s coated in a brown sugar glaze and, since it’s sticky, I’m guessing thatLæs mere
Delicious Food

Our breakfast meals are here and, as I expected, everything was delicious! I got scrambled eggs with bacon and a side of biscuits and gravy. I still can’t find anywhere back home that servesLæs mere
Salmon Avocado Toast

Kathy was still hungry so she ordered a side of salmon avocado toast. There was a bit of confusion as to it’s price when the check came but it wasn’t important to me. As long as she enjoyed herLæs mere
What’s in a Name?

This sign was hanging up on the wall, explaining the meaning behind the restaurant’s name and how it came about. Kathy and I both found it to be very touching. The Ruby Slipper Cafe was a greatLæs mere
Riverwalk

The Riverwalk had barely begun construction the last time we visited New Orleans but it looks to be finished now. It’s a lot more empty than we were expecting it to be but maybe it gets better onceLæs mere
The Arch

Kathy wanted to take a photo here but the arch is just so big that it’s hard to take it all in and still get a shot of somebody who’s close enough to be recognizable. This is probably the best oneLæs mere
Pharmabox

Riverwalk is, essentially, nothing more than an outlet mall. We were hoping for something much grander but I guess that we were expecting too much. Some of what we saw here was very strange, like thisLæs mere
Alligator

Alligators, in all forms, seem to be everywhere in New Orleans. I guess the surrounding swamps is what attracts them. This one was in a small playground at Riverwalk. I think it’s nice that thisLæs mere
Big Mouth

Pelicans are also represented in the playground. The Louisiana state bird is the pelican and they have have a basketball team called the Pelicans. It’s nice to see this playground is using all localLæs mere
The Harlequin

This shop selling souvenirs of New Orleans was my favorite shop at Riverside. I think that I liked it so much because it was so different and sold things that I couldn’t get at home. We didn’t buyLæs mere
Harrah's New Orleans

After we left Riverwalk, we walked through Harrah’s casino. We went into the casino to stay in the air conditioning rather than do any gambling. I’m very surprised that the casino is so empty. TheLæs mere
Feeling Lucky?

Located near the French Quarter, this heralded landmark and its incredible selection of more than 2,100 slots and over 100 table games make Harrah's the perfect place to play the odds in NOLA.
Cool Jazz

There are many Jazz tributes throughout New Orleans but one of my favorites are these statues standing just outside of the casino. I’m not sure if these are supposed to be specific people, or justLæs mere
Blow, Man, Blow!

I tried to do some research into these statues but, strangely, I wasn’t able to find any information about them. This is leading me to believe that they are just generic musicians and not based uponLæs mere
A Musical Nobody

I’m kind of surprised that these figures aren’t modeled after actual musicians. There’s so many real jazz players who are worthy of a tribute like this. Why not use this opportunity to honor them?
Back to Jazz Gumbo

This is the spot where supposed to be picked up by the tour bus to go on our swamp tour. We supposed to be seeing some wild alligators in the swamp. It’s very fitting that we’re meeting at anLæs mere
Starting the Tour

We’ve just boarded our boat for the Cajun Encounters Swamp Tour. This tour was rated very highly online so we’re expecting a lot. I hope that we’re not going to be disappointed!
Pulling Out

Our boat is leaving the dock and getting ready to cruise through the Louisiana bayous. I’m really hoping to see a lot of wildlife on this tour!
Staying Dockside

There’s still plenty of boats left at the docks. I’m glad that not too many boats are going out today. The less crowded it is, the more animals we’ll probably see.
The Bridge

It looks as if we’ll be in the wilderness once we pass under this bridge. I feel almost as if I’m on Disneyland’s Jungle Cruise attraction except that everything here is real and uncontrolledLæs mere
