Getting Close

This bridge looks to be designed more for trains than cars. The whole time we’ve been out here, though, I haven’t heard a single train going by. I’m wondering if this bridge is part of an oldもっと詳しく
Passing Under

It’s all water under the bridge, as the saying goes. I’m surprised to see that a lot of this bridge seems to be made of wood. I would think that all the moisture in the swamps would make thatもっと詳しく
Land Ho!
2022年5月3日, アメリカ
Our swamp experience is over and we’re back on dry land. I’d say that this was the best thing we’ve done in New Orleans, so far, and I’d definitely like to try it again sometime.
Back to Nawlins

The ride back to New Orleans seemed to go a lot faster than I expected. Kathy napped for a bit so I just munched on some alligator jerky and watched the scenery pass on by.
I Dig That Licorice Stick!

The Holiday Inn hotel was the first drop off point for the shuttle bus. It’s a nice looking hotel, with that big clarinet on the side of the building, but it’s a little outside the center of theもっと詳しく
Back on Canal Street

We were soon dropped off very close to our hotel. I’m glad that it wasn’t much of a walk. Even though it’s still early in the day, I’m starting to become a little worn out.
Hitching Posts

These horse hitching posts are all over the French Quarter. They were originally used to "hitch" or tie a person's horse so that they could galavant around town running errands or grabbing cocktails.もっと詳しく

New Orleans has a look and feel that is so much different than any other city we’ve ever been to. The sights around the city, like this balcony, are so eye catching and unique.

At Our Table

The Gumbo Shop looks, and feels, like a very classic old restaurant. It’s very popular so I’m sure that the food is going to be fantastic!
Gumbo

Ordering gumbo from the Gumbo Shop is a no-brainer. Kathy ordered a bowl of this rice dish as an accompaniment to her dinner. It looks to be a bit too spicy for me. I didn’t even taste it!
Catfish Po’boy
2022年5月3日, アメリカ ⋅ 🌙 81 °F
I ordered something a lot less spicy, the catfish po’boy sandwich. It may not look as flashy or as photogenic as the gumbo but at least I know that it’s something that I could enjoy eating.
Spicy!
2022年5月3日, アメリカ ⋅ 🌙 81 °F
The gumbo was a bit spicier than Kathy had expected but she finished all of it, which surprised me. She’s really determined to eat her way through the whole menu of Cajun and Creole cuisine!
Catfish for Groot

Being that the gumbo was so spicy, Groot was satisfied to stick with sharing a bit of my catfish po’boy. It’s simple, tasty, and satisfying!

Rev. Zombie’s Voodoo Shop

We’ve passed by Rev. Zombie’s Voodoo Shop every time we come to New Orleans. The last time we visited, we bought Veronica a voodoo doll here. This place looks a lot creepier at night!
Where is Everyone?

The French Quarter seems a lot more quiet and empty than we remember it being. Where is everyone? This area seems kind of creepy when it’s empty.
The Queue
