It didn’t take very long for us to get a table. It was Kathy’s idea to use the online reservation system and it worked out very well for us. I can’t wait to see a menu. We’re starved!

I’m so glad that we took a chance on the pig candy bacon appetizer because it was delicious! My only regret is that the portion size was a bit small. I could have eaten a whole plate of this bacon!

This is probably the best tasting bacon that I’ve ever eaten! I’m not sure how it’s prepared but it tastes like it’s coated in a brown sugar glaze and, since it’s sticky, I’m guessing that there’s some honey in there too. I’d like to try making this at home. I wonder if I can…Les mer

This sign was hanging up on the wall, explaining the meaning behind the restaurant’s name and how it came about. Kathy and I both found it to be very touching. The Ruby Slipper Cafe was a great restaurant with fantastic food. We’ll definitely be coming back here again before we leave!Les mer

Riverwalk is, essentially, nothing more than an outlet mall. We were hoping for something much grander but I guess that we were expecting too much. Some of what we saw here was very strange, like this Pharmabox machine. Do people in this mall need to medicate themselves so much that a machine like this is necessary? That’s so bizarre!Les mer

Alligators, in all forms, seem to be everywhere in New Orleans. I guess the surrounding swamps is what attracts them. This one was in a small playground at Riverwalk. I think it’s nice that this mall set up an area where kids can run around and blow of steam.Les mer

Pelicans are also represented in the playground. The Louisiana state bird is the pelican and they have have a basketball team called the Pelicans. It’s nice to see this playground is using all local wildlife in their decorating.Les mer

This shop selling souvenirs of New Orleans was my favorite shop at Riverside. I think that I liked it so much because it was so different and sold things that I couldn’t get at home. We didn’t buy anything though. The prices were kind of expensive and we had seen most of what they were selling much cheaper elsewhere.Les mer
