Window Shopping
6. November 2017 in Frankreich ⋅ 🌙 45 °F
There were so many interesting shops here that I would have liked to visit but, unfortunately, all of them were closed. I'm hoping that we get a chance to come back in the day time, when everything isWeiterlesen
M & S Food Store
6. November 2017 in Frankreich ⋅ 🌙 45 °F
Passage Jouffroy is a small shopping mall in the style of the early eighteenth century. Back then, this place brought people off the street for drinks, food and shopping and it still delights today.
High End Shopping
6. November 2017 in Frankreich ⋅ 🌙 45 °F
The architecture here is more of a draw than the shops themselves, but we enjoyed window shopping. Although we didn't go inside, since everything was closed, all of these stores look very expensive.
Hard Rock Cafe
6. November 2017 in Frankreich ⋅ 🌙 43 °F
The Hard Rock Cafe was right down the street from our hotel. With Passage Jouffroy and Hard Rock Cafe so close, plus a metro station right outside the door of the hotel, I'm thinking that we picked aWeiterlesen
Going Down?
6. November 2017 in Frankreich ⋅ 🌙 43 °F
We didn't have to walk very far before we came to another metro station, this one called Richelieu Drouot. It seems like getting around in Paris is going to be very easy and convienent. These stationsWeiterlesen
Richelieu Drouot
6. November 2017 in Frankreich ⋅ 🌙 43 °F
Here's another look at the metro station but from the other side. From this perspective, I can see that the entrance is a lot wider than the what we are used to in New York. I guess that it's easierWeiterlesen
Outdoor Dining
6. November 2017 in Frankreich ⋅ 🌙 43 °F
We're still seeing every single place that offers dining having the sidewalk seating. Some of it is right out on the sidewalk and some of it is in these enclosed, or semi-enclosed, glass rooms. TheWeiterlesen
Exploring the 9th Arrondissement
6. November 2017 in Frankreich ⋅ 🌙 41 °F
We're having a lot of fun exploring the neighborhood around our hotel. It would be nice to go and see some of the major attractions of Paris but we're just too tired today. The same thing happened toWeiterlesen
Street Food
6. November 2017 in Frankreich ⋅ 🌙 41 °F
Just like in New York City, Paris has street stalls preparing, and selling, food for people on the go. There are a lot less of this sort of thing in Paris though. In fact, this was the only stall thatWeiterlesen
Empty Tables
6. November 2017 in Frankreich ⋅ 🌙 41 °F
Here's another restaurant that features outdoor dining but, like most of the places that we've seen, there's no one eating there. It can't be that it's too cold. This place has the inner restaurant,Weiterlesen
Another Passage
6. November 2017 in Frankreich ⋅ 🌙 39 °F
This is another passage way that was right across the street from Passage Jouffroy. While it's similar in it's idea, it doesn't really have that stylish old-world charm that Passage Jouffroy has. ThisWeiterlesen
Victoria Station
6. November 2017 in Frankreich ⋅ 🌙 39 °F
This restaurant doesn't look French at all. It has a British name, Victoria Station, but the way it looks, with all the neon and dark colors, it makes me think of an American steakhouse. The outsideWeiterlesen
Nearly Back Home
6. November 2017 in Frankreich ⋅ 🌙 39 °F
This is a place that we got to know quite well. We didn't eat here but it was right outside the door of our hotel. So, this restaurant became our landmark. When we saw this place, we knew that we wereWeiterlesen
Rise and Shine!
7. November 2017 in Frankreich ⋅ ☀️ 32 °F
I'm just waking up to our first full day in Paris. It's right around 8:00 in the morning so I'm thinking that I'm almost adjusted to the time difference between here and New York. I'm thinking that itWeiterlesen
Time for Breakfast
7. November 2017 in Frankreich ⋅ 🌫 37 °F
This is the McDonald's right down the street from our hotel. We decided to eat here just to have something quick so we could get started on site seeing.
I'm not sure I like the McDonald's here inWeiterlesen
Order Up!
7. November 2017 in Frankreich ⋅ 🌫 37 °F
After we ordered our food, we picked it up at this window. I'm not sure how breakfast here is going to taste because the menu here is quite different from what the breakfast selections are like inWeiterlesen
Earl Grey, Hot!
7. November 2017 in Frankreich ⋅ 🌫 39 °F
Our food was acceptable but not the greatest. Actually, we were both disappointed with our first breakfast in France. We agreed that we wouldn't come here for breakfast again.
I got their beef andWeiterlesen
To Saint Michel - Notre Dame
7. November 2017 in Frankreich ⋅ ☀️ 41 °F
Kathy still looks a bit tired as we rode the metro to the Saint Michel - Notre Dame stop. At least she got a seat. I had to stand the whole ride. It wasn't too bad though. Everything seems to be quiteWeiterlesen
The Metro
7. November 2017 in Frankreich ⋅ ☀️ 41 °F
As we came out of the metro at Saint Michel I saw that this station had the more fancy type of station entrance. I thought that I was going to have to search for one of these but it was so easy toWeiterlesen
The Metropolitan

At Gibert Jeune's
7. November 2017 in Frankreich ⋅ ☀️ 43 °F
Gibert Jeune looks to be a major book seller in the Saint Michel district. I love bookstores so this would have been such an interesting place to me but, unfortunately, since I can't read French, IWeiterlesen
Scenes of Paris
7. November 2017 in Frankreich ⋅ ☀️ 45 °F
Not only did Gibert Jeune sell books but it looked like they had a big selection of postcards also. I always love collecting postcards from places that we travel to and now it seems that Veronica andWeiterlesen
Exploring Saint Michel
7. November 2017 in Frankreich ⋅ ☀️ 45 °F
The Saint Michel district is full of these narrow alleyways. It gives the area a very old world European feel. This seems to be an area that's designed, primarily, for tourists. The main things thatWeiterlesen
Here in Saint Michel
7. November 2017 in Frankreich ⋅ ☀️ 45 °F
In Les Miserables, Gavroche sings about the slums of Saint Michel. This probably refers to this area near the Chapel Saint-Michel in the Latin Quarter of Paris, a section in the 5th arrondissementWeiterlesen
