  • Hard Rock Cafe

    November 7, 2017 in France ⋅ 🌙 36 °F

The Hard Rock Cafe can always be counted on for great tasting food and wonderful service and this time was no exception. Kathy had the salmon and I had the ribs. Both meals were fantastic. They had some nice pins in their shop. I used to collect the Hard Rock Cafe pins many years ago. Maybe I should start again. They would be a nice remembrance to the different cities that we've visited.Read more

  • Where is Everyone?

    November 7, 2017 in France ⋅ 🌙 36 °F

After a great dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe, Kathy was feeling tired and was ready to go back to the hotel and get some sleep. I was still wide awake and was thinking about going out to get some night time shooting done. I was shocked at how empty the streets were after we left the Hard Rock Cafe. Where is everyone? I didn't really feel comfortable walking around such empty streets in a city that I still wasn't very familiar with. With everything already closed, what could I possibly take pictures of anyway? I guess that it's going to be an early night for me!Read more

  • Breakfast at La Croissanterie

    November 8, 2017 in France ⋅ ☁️ 37 °F

We discovered La Croissanterie right across the street from the hotel and it became our go-to spot for breakfast. La Croissanterie seems to be the local equivalent of Dunkin Donuts back home. Strangely, we didn't see a single Dunkin Donuts anywhere in France. This surprised us because we had thought that they had locations all over the world. Anyway, La Croissanterie was so much better. Their pastries and croissants were all so tasty and fresh. If this is what a "fast food" croissant tastes like, I can't wait to try a real authentic one! I don't think that I'll be able to eat the croissants back home anymore. The ones in Paris have gotten me spoiled!Read more

  • We're at Disneyland Paris!

    November 8, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 39 °F

We just pulled into the train station at Disneyland Paris! We weren't planning on visiting Disneyland Paris until the weekend, when all of the Christmas decorations will be up, but the weather report says that it's going to be raining all weekend. It's no fun going to a theme park in the rain so we decided to spend today at Disneyland Paris. We won't be able to see the Christmas decorations but at least we'll be dry!Read more

  • Disneyland Hotel

    November 8, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 41 °F

The Disneyland Hotel is so beautiful! If we were going to be spending a few days at Disneyland Paris I'd definitely want to stay here. We'll only be here for the day so it doesn't make sense to stay so far away from the heart of Paris.Read more

  • We're Happy

    November 8, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 41 °F

I'm really happy that we're going to be spending the day at Disneyland Paris. Now there are only two Disney parks that I haven't been to yet; Disneyland Hong Kong and Disneyland Shanghai. I'm hoping that, one day, I'll have seen them all!Read more

  • Ready to Go In

    November 8, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 41 °F

If I had come here on my own, I would have gone inside this beautiful hotel to get some shots of the lobby. I don't think that Kathy would be interested in that so I didn't even bring it up. This place reminds me of Disney World's Grand Floridian Hotel. I wonder if the inside is similar.Read more

  • Disneyland Hotel

    November 8, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 41 °F

Glide into a magical life of luxury at the Disneyland Paris Hotel. Just a short stroll from the gates of the Park, this majestic Victorian-inspired Hotel delivers only the finest Disney quality, service and hospitality. You can even enjoy extra magic in the Disney parks depending upon when you decide to visit.Read more

  • It's Time to Go In

    November 8, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 41 °F

I like that big clock outside of the hotel. It makes me think of the old fashioned Mickey Mouse watches from when we were kids. That sky looks awfully threatening. I hope that we don't get any rain today. Let's go in! It's time to start having fun!Read more

  • Main Street Station

    November 8, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 41 °F

Right on the other side of the Disneyland Hotel is the Main Street Train Station. I really wanted to ride on this train, and take a ride around the entire park, but it was closed for renovations. The big 25 in lights is to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Disneyland Paris. Has it really been open that long...?Read more

  • Happy Anniversary, Disneyland Paris!

    November 8, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 41 °F

Here's a closer look at the 25th anniversary sign over the train station. Tinkerbell looks a bit strange in blue, but it goes well with the silver skin tones and metallic color scheme they are using for the anniversary celebration. I wonder if there's any special anniversary events happening today.Read more

  • Shot From Behind

    November 8, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 41 °F

While I was shooting the Disneyland Paris Train Station, Kathy went behind me and started taking pictures of me. Although I'm starting to enjoy having my picture taken, she wanted to shoot me from behind so that I can see how much hair that I'm losing. I was a good sport about it though, I already know that I've lost hair, and there's nothing that can be done about it, so why get upset?Read more

  • At the Station

    November 8, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 41 °F

I'd like to get a shot if the train pulling into, or sitting in, the train station but, unfortunately, the Disneyland train is closed for refurbishment. That's too bad but at least all the major attractions seem to be up and running. This should be enough shots at the train station. Let's go inside and see the rest of the park!Read more

  • Main Street USA

    November 8, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 41 °F

The Main Street USA in Disneyland Paris looks very similar to the ones that are in Orlando and Anaheim. Even though the Christmas festivities won't begin until Saturday, I see that the decorations have already started going up. We'll get to see a bit of what Disneyland Paris looks like for Christmas at least.Read more

  • Balloons

    November 8, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 43 °F

What looks happier, or more festive, than a big bunch of balloons? The balloon sellers can always be seen standing about on Main Street selling their wares. While these balloons make for great photo ops, and I really like them, I think that it would quickly become a nuisance to carry around the park all day long.Read more

  • Belle's Castle

    November 8, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 43 °F

The castle in Disneyland Paris looks so beautiful! This is Belle's castle, which makes sense because the story of Beauty and the Beast took place in France. Each of the castles in the different Disney parks are said to belong to a different Disney princess. I wonder what will happen if Disney opens up a few more parks. They will end up having more castles than princesses.Read more

  • Kathy

    November 8, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 43 °F

Here's my princess, standing in front of Belle's castle. I'm so happy that we're here today. I'm sure that we're going to have a wonderful time at Disneyland Paris!

  • Frontierland

    November 8, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 43 °F

Rather than Adventureland, like in the American Disney parks, Frontierland is the first land we come to after leaving Main Street. I'm shocked by how empty the park is. I hope that it stays like this all day! Notice that some Halloween decorations are still on display.Read more

  • The Ghost

    November 8, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 43 °F

Here's a closer look at the ghost. I remember these characters from an old Disney cartoon called "Lonesome Ghosts". The story featured Mickey Mouse, Goofy and Donald Duck playing ghostbusters while investigating a haunted house. It was a great classic cartoon.Read more

  • Phantom Manor

    November 8, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 43 °F

The first attraction that we came to in Frontierland was Phantom Manor, the Disneyland Paris version of the Haunted Mansion. I'm surprised to find this ride in Frontierland though. I don't think that a haunted house fits the Old West theme but I suppose that they didn't have any place more appropriate to put it.Read more

  • Do You Dare Enter?

    November 8, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 43 °F

Compared to the Haunted Mansions at other Disney parks, I think that this one looks the scariest. I wonder how many small children are afraid to go on this ride? Nothing inside is scary at all, of course, but the building outside gives a very different impression. This house reminded me of the one in the movie "Psycho". Maybe that's why I think it looks so sinister.Read more

  • Little Leota

    November 8, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 43 °F

I was surprised that almost everything in Phantom Manor is different from the Haunted Mansions in the American Disney parks, which are nearly identical. There are a few things that are the same though. The stretching room when you first go inside and Little Leota, seen here, are two examples.Read more

  • Big Thunder Mountain

    November 8, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 45 °F

This was our view as we exited Phantom Manor. Big Thunder Mountain is a rollercoaster ride with a theme setting of an old western gold rush town. It's not really a wild rollercoaster but, with Kathy's back problems, it's better that we don't ride Big Thunder Mountain. Kathy told me to get on the ride but I wouldn't really enjoy it without her at my side. I'm sure that Disneyland Paris has plenty of other rides that we'll be able to enjoy together.Read more
