  • On the Way to JFK

    7 november 2019, Verenigde Staten ⋅ ☁️ 55 °F

We had planned to go to the airport using an Uber cab but Judy insisted that Joe will take us. I feel better riding with someone that I know and, as a bonus, it saves us money. We've dropped them off and picked them up from the airport several times already so I'm guessing that Judy is feeling that now it's time to give back.Meer informatie

  • Checked Bag

    7 november 2019, Verenigde Staten ⋅ ☁️ 55 °F

I knew that our luck couldn't last! The Alitalia clerk that was checking us in decided to weigh my carry-on bag and told us that it was too heavy and would have to be checked. The cost for checking the bag was $60! I was so annoyed about that. This is the first time that I've ever had to pay for luggage when I travel. I'm not happy! Kathy's bag was just slightly over the weight so the clerk allowed her to get away with it. At least both of us aren't paying.Meer informatie

  • Groot's Ready to Go

    7 november 2019, Verenigde Staten ⋅ ☁️ 55 °F

One of my goals for this trip is to do more toy photography. I'm bringing Groot, Danbo, and some of my favorite figures. I'm not sure how much I'll be using my figures because it's supposed to be raining while we're in Rome. I'll be keeping Groot and Danbo with me throughout the trip. I'm hoping to get some good toy shots.Meer informatie

  • Time for Lunch

    7 november 2019, Verenigde Staten ⋅ ☁️ 55 °F

We were in such a rush to get ready for our trip that we didn't even have time to have breakfast or lunch. We just ended up going to the bagel shop and getting food there. Kathy got an egg salad sandwich and I got just a simple buttered bagel. I'm not expecting anything good to be served on the plane so it's better for us to fill up now.Meer informatie

  • Boarding Line

    7 november 2019, Verenigde Staten ⋅ ☁️ 57 °F

People are starting to line up to get on the plane but, with the way it's arranged, many people don't seem to know where to go and are just wandering around in confusion. I had thought that the boarding process for Southwest Airlines was confusing and silly but Alitalia does an even worse job. The airports should just decide upon an efficient boarding process that every airline has to follow. It would make things so much easier.Meer informatie

  • In the Jetway

    7 november 2019, Verenigde Staten ⋅ ☁️ 55 °F

We're trying to get on the plane but the jetway is all backed up. I've never seen one that's so crowded! I don't understand why it's such a process to board a plane. People get on trains, buses and subways all the time without any trouble. Why is getting on a plane so different?Meer informatie

  • A Bad Start

    7 november 2019, Verenigde Staten ⋅ ☁️ 55 °F

So far, I'm not very impressed with Alitalia at all. They made me check my luggage, and charged me for it, our boarding was delayed for a bit over an hour, and then, when we did finally board, it was the most inefficient and unorganized process I've ever seen. We told the flight attendant where our seats were and he demanded to see our boarding passes, as if we were lying to him. How rude! Then, after seeing our passes, he directed us to the wrong side of the plane! I'm thinking that he did it on purpose. My water bottle is now gone. Apparently it rolled under the seat and although I've asked people seated around me, nobody has seen it. I guess that I'll never get it back. On top of all that there is some sort of metal box under the seat in front of me so I have very little leg room and the entertainment screen in front of me isn't working. I can't wait to see what happens next!Meer informatie

  • We're Finally Going

    7 november 2019, Verenigde Staten ⋅ ☁️ 55 °F

After some delays, we're ready to take off. I hope that this is going to be a good flight but I'm not sure that it will be. The seats are very small and uncomfortable and, for some reason, the plane seems very dark and gloomy. I don't know who picked out the color scheme but it doesn't seem to be working well for an airplane.Meer informatie

  • So Tired

    7 november 2019, North Atlantic Ocean ⋅ ☁️ 54 °F

I've been trying to sleep but, like always, I'm just not able to fall asleep while I'm sitting up. It doesn't even matter how tired I am. I just can't get comfortable enough to fall asleep. I'm sure that, when we land in Rome, I'm going to be exhausted.Meer informatie

  • A Miserable Meal

    7 november 2019, Canada ⋅ ☁️ 46 °F

Once again, the food that the airlines serve is the stuff of nightmares. It would be so much better if the airlines served simple sandwiches or, better yet, don't serve any food and then knock a few dollars off the price of the plane ticket. If I want something to eat, I'd bring my own food.Meer informatie

  • Bad Food

    7 november 2019, North Atlantic Ocean ⋅ ⛅ 43 °F

Danbo can't believe what the airlines are passing off as food these days. I'm really making an effort to do more toy photography so I'm trying to work my figures into a variety of shots. I think that Groot and Danbo work best in everyday scenes like this so I'll probably be using these two figures the most.Meer informatie

  • Don't Drink It!

    7 november 2019, Ierland ⋅ ⛅ 45 °F

It was so warm on the plane and when the person seated next to us, in the aisle seat, got up to walk around for a bit, they came back with three cups of water, one for each of us. I thought that it was a nice gesture but Kathy quickly whispered to me not to drink it because the person could have put something in the water to affect us somehow. I don't know why someone would do a thing like that but, I must admit, it made me stop and think. Neither of us drank the water he gave us. If the guy noticed, or thought that it was strange, he didn't say anything about it. I'm sure that what he did was totally innocent, and a nice gesture, but why take unnecessary chances?Meer informatie

  • Can't Sleep

    7 november 2019, North Sea ⋅ ⛅ 48 °F

Kathy and I are both exhausted but can't fall asleep. For some reason, this plane doesn't have those little air blowers above the seats. Those are great for giving the passengers cool air but, without them, the plane feels very hot with no air flowing. This, combined with very uncomfortable seats, is making sleep impossible.Meer informatie

  • Ready for Breakfast

    8 november 2019, Frankrijk ⋅ ⛅ 37 °F

The lights have just been turned up, although it still seems very dark and gloomy to me, and the flight attendants are getting ready to start serving breakfast. I've just now noticed that all of the flight attendants are men. Usually they are all women with maybe just one occasional man but, for this flight, there are only men here. It just adds to the feeling that everything on this Alitalia flight feels slightly off.Meer informatie

  • Orange Juice?

    8 november 2019, Frankrijk ⋅ ⛅ 37 °F

What Alitalia called breakfast was just as bad as the previous meal they served us. This red drink was served to us and they called is orange juice. Kathy questioned the color and was told that it's actually juice from a blood orange. Kathy actually likes blood orange and took a sip of this but quickly spit it out, saying that it was awful. I wasn't brave enough to even taste this. It looks like a cup of watered down blood.Meer informatie

  • Up and About

    8 november 2019, Italië ⋅ 🌧 55 °F

With breakfast, such as it was, out of the way, I decided to stretch my legs a bit and use the restroom. I don't think it will be much longer until we land so it's best to get everything done now. It feels so good to be standing up and walking around after sitting for so long!Meer informatie
