Endless Path

When the cabin was lit up, it was easier to take pictures of this area. The path was still very difficult to photograph, especially by itself, but at least the cabin gave off enough light to let meEn savoir plus
Little House

Seeing this house lit up takes away a lot of it's spooky nature. In the dark, it's much more scary. Without all the lights, I could easily see this being that creepy cabin in the Blair Witch movie.En savoir plus
The Witches

I really like this witches display a lot. It's very detailed and elaborate. Sometimes this display is set up and sometimes it's not. I'm glad that it was there this year.
Caught in a Web

These giant webs are set up every year without fail. Most of the visitors I see at the Blaze seem to be very impressed by these webs. They look okay, I suppose, but I think that there are otherEn savoir plus
Spiders

Since there's spider webs at the Blaze there, of course, must be spiders. These spiders are not regular arachnids either. Each one has a human skull for their head. Creepy!
Lady Liberty

This tall display, of the Statue of Liberty, is at the Blaze every year. I wonder if it's rebuilt each year with new pumpkins or if these are fake pumpkins that are just reassembled each Fall. I'dEn savoir plus
Wraiths

These wraith like figures were standing near the giant spider webs. They look so creepy! What a perfect display for Halloween!
Colorful Wraiths

Different colored lights shining on these figures, and constantly changing, give them a new appearance every minute or so.
Spooky!

These figures remind me of the black riders from the Lord of the Rings. I wish that one of the color schemes that they cycled through gave the figures black robes and red eyes. With that look, theyEn savoir plus
Approaching the Manor

This big house is always the best part of the Blaze. This is only the side of it and it's already looking great!
The End is Near

When I see this big clock, I know that the Blaze is nearly finished. It even says "The End is Near" right on the clock itself, to let people know that their tour is nearly complete.
Van Cortland Manor

Van Cortland Manor is, pretty much, the finale of the Great Pumpkin Blaze. There's a bit more to see but none of it as spectacular as this.
Pumpkins

This area is a courtyard rather than a path where you are expected to keep moving, at least moving slowly. Since you are free to stay here as long as you want, and get quite close to the house itself,En savoir plus
Spooky Mansion

I like the creepy look of this shot. There are so many variations on this scene because the mansion has a continuous lightshow going on. To keep with the mood, dramatic and scary music is playing too.
Orange Means Halloween

The music that is playing here, as well as what's been playing throughout the Great Pumpkin Blaze, is all original music composed by Richard Christy from the Howard Stern Show. I know that he's a bigEn savoir plus
Pumpkins

I recognize a lot of these pumpkin faces from previous years. It makes me wonder how many of them are actually pumpkins and how many are just carved foam or plastic. If I found out that most of theseEn savoir plus
The Garden

Right next to Van Cortland Manor is a garden made entirely from pumpkins. This is a great touch and really compliments the house. The two displays go quite well together.
Flowers

Here's a closer look at the pumpkin garden. They seem to be sunflowers and what looks like corn.
Dance Among the Dead

Also next to Van Cortland Manor, across from the garden, a pumpkin graveyard was set up, complete with scarecrows and skeletons dancing around the pumpkin headstones.
Keep On Dancing

The dancing skeletons are a whimsical touch to the pumpkin cemetery but the scarecrows look very creepy and sinister. I'm not sure why but something about them is very disturbing and frightening toEn savoir plus
A Look Back

It's starting to get crowded in front of Van Cortland Manor now. I think that many people know that the Blaze is nearly over and they don't want it to end so they are lingering about by the house.En savoir plus
Busy Bees

Even while heading for the exit, there are still clever little treats for the eyes. This pumpkin beehive, complete with a swarm of bees, looks fantastic! Each bee has actually been carved into a tinyEn savoir plus
One Last Look Back

With one last parting look down the trail of the Great Pumpkin Blaze, I'm ready to start heading home. A lot of what I saw was old displays but I saw enough new stuff to make me want to come back nextEn savoir plus
Jack 'O Lanterns

As I was leaving, I saw a whole lot of these carved pumpkins lined up on a wall that ran the length of the exit. I could see that all of these were real pumpkins, unlike some of the others I sawEn savoir plus
Bye, Blaze!

I had a great time at the Great Pumpkin Blaze and I'm already looking forward to coming back next season. I'm really hoping that Kathy decides to join me next year but, most likely, she won't. I thinkEn savoir plus
