Our long awaited trip to Thailand and Singapore has finally started! We’re standing outside waiting for our Uber driver to arrive so we could go to the airport.
On the Way
31. oktober 2024, Forenede Stater ⋅ ☁️ 66 °F
Our driver arrived exactly on time but, strangely, he just sat looking forward and never interacted with us at all. We said hello to him when we got in the car and greeted him a Happy Halloween but heLæs mere
A Quiet Ride
31. oktober 2024, Forenede Stater ⋅ ⛅ 66 °F
We’re nearly at the airport and our driver has yet to acknowledge us. This has gone beyond weird and, now, it’s just plain rude. This driver certainly isn’t going to be getting a tip from us.
Arrived at JFK
31. oktober 2024, Forenede Stater ⋅ ⛅ 68 °F
When our cab got to JFK airport, we weren’t even dropped off at the Singapore Airlines section. Our driver just pulled into the first open parking space he saw and stopped. We told him that we wereLæs mere
At the Gate
31. oktober 2024, Forenede Stater ⋅ ⛅ 68 °F
It took some walking, but we made our way to the Singapore Airlines counter. There was a bit of a line, but that’s okay because we allowed extra time and got here early. I like how they did a bit ofLæs mere
In the Queue
31. oktober 2024, Forenede Stater ⋅ ⛅ 68 °F
Kathy might be feeling a bit chilly now but I think she’ll be taking off her sweatshirt and jacket very soon. Thailand and Singapore are both very hot and humid. I don’t do well in the heat soLæs mere
Self Check In
31. oktober 2024, Forenede Stater ⋅ 🌙 68 °F
While we didn’t use them this time, I liked how the self check in kiosks were decorated for Halloween. Most of the Singapore Airlines employees were dressed up in costumes and had buckets full ofLæs mere
Onward to TSA
31. oktober 2024, Forenede Stater ⋅ 🌙 68 °F
Now that our bags have been checked in, and we have our boarding passes, we’re ready to head over to TSA for security screening. This is the part that I always dread the most while traveling.
TSA Check Point
31. oktober 2024, Forenede Stater ⋅ 🌙 68 °F
As I expected, the lines here are very long and it seems like all the workers here are nasty and have surly attitudes. Why won’t they even try to make this process a bit more pleasant for travelers?
Long Lines
31. oktober 2024, Forenede Stater ⋅ 🌙 68 °F
The lines at the TSA checkpoint were very long, as I had expected, but they were moving fairly quickly. I still didn’t like waiting here though. This is one of the biggest drawbacks of air travel. ILæs mere
Stewardesses

While waiting on the TSA line, I saw this group of stewardesses going through the security area. I didn’t know that they were subjected to screening procedures also. Their uniforms look so differentLæs mere
Almost Our Turn
31. oktober 2024, Forenede Stater ⋅ ☁️ 68 °F
Photography isn’t allowed in the TSA area so this was the closest I could go and still get some pictures. Surprisingly, everything went very quickly and smoothly one it was our turn. I still had toLæs mere
Red
31. oktober 2024, Forenede Stater ⋅ ☁️ 68 °F

Where is Everyone?
31. oktober 2024, Forenede Stater ⋅ ☁️ 68 °F
Why is the terminal so empty? It’s not just our gate but every gate I can see looks empty. I know it’s a holiday, which may have something to do with it, but it’s very surprising to see it soLæs mere

31. oktober 2024, Forenede Stater ⋅ ☁️ 68 °F
With one last visit to the restroom, we’re all ready to get on the plane. Right now, we’re just waiting for the announcement that boarding will begin. It shouldn’t be much longer.
Singapore Airlines
31. oktober 2024, Forenede Stater ⋅ ☁️ 68 °F
This is the plane that will be taking us on our flight to Singapore. That’s just the first, and longest, leg of our trip though. From there, we’ll catch a connecting flight to Bangkok.
Queuing Up
31. oktober 2024, Forenede Stater ⋅ ☁️ 68 °F
The terminal was nearly empty a few minutes ago but once the announcement was made about boarding, the place filled up so quickly. Where were all these passengers hiding?
On the Jetway
31. oktober 2024, Forenede Stater ⋅ ☁️ 68 °F
Our turn to board the plane came at last and we’re proceeding down an elaborate jetway with two levels. I’ve never seen one so big! Is this the new style of boarding the planes or is this jetwayLæs mere

We’re finally able to board the plane but, unfortunately, we’re not seated together. We each have an aisle seat and I’m seated right behind Kathy. I would have liked us seated next to each otherLæs mere

31. oktober 2024, Forenede Stater ⋅ ☁️ 68 °F
