  • Fried Rice

    November 2, 2024 in Thailand ⋅ ☀️ 88 °F

The food we ordered, fried rice, was very similar to what we get at home. I was surprised that the Thai people eat with forks and spoons, rather than chopsticks, especially when considering that we are eating Chinese food.Read more

  • Drinking it Anyway

    November 2, 2024 in Thailand ⋅ ⛅ 86 °F

Kathy drank a lot of the coconut water even though she didn’t care for it. I told her to just leave it but she didn’t want to waste the money. To me, if you’re not going to enjoy it, just leave it. It’s just a small amount of money so it doesn’t really matter.Read more

  • Back to the Hotel

    November 2, 2024 in Thailand ⋅ ⛅ 86 °F

It’s time for us to get back to the hotel for an orientation meeting of our tour group in the hotel lobby. I’m wondering how big the group is. I hope it’s not too many people. I prefer a smaller, more intimate, group. It’s easier to get to know people when there’s less of us.Read more

  • A Short Meeting

    November 2, 2024 in Thailand ⋅ ☁️ 86 °F

The orientation meet was a bust the only people there were the tour guide, a guy named Woody who was from Australia, and ourselves. It was nice to meet them but I expected more people to show up. The tour guide, a woman named Chino, discussed our itinerary and collected the money for our admissions not included in the tour. It wasn’t a lot of money because things seem very inexpensive in Thailand.Read more

  • On the Way

    November 2, 2024 in Thailand ⋅ ☁️ 86 °F

Our tour group was supposed to have dinner together but with so few of us, everyone figured why bother. Woody decided to visit Nana, Thailand’s red light district. He invited me to join him but I wouldn’t leave Kathy on her own, especially to go somewhere like that. Chino suggested that Kathy and I visit the night market, which sounded interesting. We got a Grab taxi with the app, and we’re on our way there now.Read more

  • Bangkok’s Night Market

    November 2, 2024 in Thailand ⋅ ☁️ 86 °F

This place seems very interesting. It’s a collection of shops and stalls selling everything from snacks to whole meals and from insects to massages. I decided that I’m going to be brave and try things that I’ve never had, or done, before. After all, if I’m going to visit Thailand, let’s really experience it!Read more

You really can find anything in Bangkok’s Night Market, as this selection of sex toys makes very clear! I jokingly offered to get one for Kathy but she declined. We were both very surprised to see such goods right out in the open like this.Read more

  • Tea Time

    November 2, 2024 in Thailand ⋅ ☁️ 86 °F

Kathy was in the mood for some of the Thai style tea and was surprised by how many different varieties there were. The seller had her sample several different kinds to make sure she would get the kind she likes. They are so friendly and helpful here!Read more

  • Making Roti

    November 2, 2024 in Thailand ⋅ 🌩️ 84 °F

I think that I’ll probably end up trying roti, a popular snack in Thailand. It’s kind of like a crepe and stuffed with a variety of different things. I’m now looking for the best stall to get it.

  • Roti

    November 2, 2024 in Thailand ⋅ ☁️ 84 °F

The most popular type of roti seems to be made with Nutella and bananas. That’s definitely the type I’m going to try. I wonder how much the taste varies between the different stalls. I’m going to look for a crowded one. I’m thinking that if they are doing a lot of business, it must be because they are very good.Read more

  • Fried Foods

Aside from the squid, we saw so many varieties of fried foods. Although I could recognize most of them, there were some that I couldn’t. Most of it looked quite tasty though.

I’m seeing prawns for sale in so many places here. I never knew that these are so popular here. We have them in New York City also but they are not as common. The size of these things are impressive. Just one would be enough for a whole meal.Read more
