  • Grubs

    November 2, 2024 in Thailand ⋅ ☁️ 84 °F

These grubs don’t look the least bit appetizing to me. I like to think that I’m very tolerant of other cultures and customs but I just couldn’t see myself eating something like this. These look like maggots to me.Read more

  • Scary Stuff

    November 2, 2024 in Thailand ⋅ ⛅ 84 °F

I think that I’d have to be starving to eat these bugs. Those pincers look so big and hard and I can even see little hairs growing out of these insects. How can anyone think of these as food?

  • Centipedes

    November 2, 2024 in Thailand ⋅ ⛅ 84 °F

I’m thinking that it must be a cultural thing because there’s no way I could ever imagine myself eating something like this. Something like this just isn’t food where we’re from. These are kind of expensive too. 300 baht converts to $9.20 US dollars.Read more

  • Meat Mountain

    November 2, 2024 in Thailand ⋅ ⛅ 84 °F

We saw this huge pile of pork meat being sold all over the night market. At around two feet tall, this gas got to be the most insane street food that I’ve ever seen. It’s covered with lots of spices and I’m told the taste is both sour and spicy. This snack costs 999 baht or around $30 US dollars. For the amount of food you get, it’s a fair price.Read more

  • No More Chicken

    November 2, 2024 in Thailand ⋅ ⛅ 84 °F

The chicken must be the most popular variety because it’s sold out here. I’ve got to admit, given these choices, I would have picked the chicken also. When food is sold on sticks like this, why do I never see fish being sold? That would be my first choice!Read more

  • Not Crowded

    November 2, 2024 in Thailand ⋅ ⛅ 84 °F

Here’s a wide angled look at the night market and it doesn’t look very crowded at all. Even if we wanted to sit and eat something, there’s plenty of room at the tables. I really like that the market isn’t mobbed with people. It wouldn’t be too much fun if it were.Read more

  • Coconuts

    November 2, 2024 in Thailand ⋅ ⛅ 84 °F

These coconuts seemed to be everywhere we looked. We saw lots of people buying them and then walking around drinking the coconut water through a straw. We tried that already, when we first arrived, and neither of us was thrilled with it.Read more

  • Fresh Fruit

    November 2, 2024 in Thailand ⋅ ⛅ 84 °F

I really love taking pictures of neon signs, probably because the phones are able to photograph them so well. The colors are always right and vibrant with lots of color saturation. I’m always happy when I see neon signs in my travels.Read more

  • Pants

    November 2, 2024 in Thailand ⋅ ⛅ 84 °F

Kathy is trying to find a pair of pants like this to wear as pajamas. They look very loose and comfortable but, so far, she hasn’t been too pleased with the colors or the quality. She’d like them in cotton but all we’ve seen so far is a cotton and polyester blend. I hope we find what she wants before we leave Thailand.Read more

  • Agitation

    November 2, 2024 in Thailand ⋅ ⛅ 84 °F

I’m not sure what the point is to shake up these sodas. I don’t drink soda, but I know that when they are agitated, they will explode violently right out of the bottle when opened. Why would anyone want a drink like this?Read more

  • Baby Squid

    November 2, 2024 in Thailand ⋅ ⛅ 84 °F

I’ve seen lobsters and, sometimes, crabs sold this way but squid is a new one. Do people really want to pick out their own squid to eat? What would they even base their choice on? Picking the biggest is the only option that makes sense.Read more

  • Souvenirs

    November 2, 2024 in Thailand ⋅ ⛅ 84 °F

It’s kind of early to start shopping for souvenirs right now but it was interesting to take a look at what they had. I liked seeing so many elephant inspired items. I’d like to get an some sort of elephant before we leave.Read more

  • Fried Insects

    November 2, 2024 in Thailand ⋅ ⛅ 84 °F

This is the second stall we’ve seen selling fried insects. I had no idea something like this was so popular in Thailand. One stall would have been just a curiosity but more makes me think fried insects really do have a following here.Read more

  • Tasting

    November 2, 2024 in Thailand ⋅ ⛅ 84 °F

I decided to be very bold and do something that I’ve never done before so I tasted one of the bugs. It looked like a small grasshopper or a cricket and while it was very crunchy, it didn’t really taste like anything. Kathy refused to taste any of the bugs. Have I become more adventurous in eating than she is?Read more

  • Bags

    November 2, 2024 in Thailand ⋅ ⛅ 84 °F

I love bags and these really caught my eye. I love the patterns and the bright colors! Kathy bought a few of these to bring to her friend, and neighbor, back home. I’m still debating about if I should get them or not.Read more

  • Wandering Around

    November 2, 2024 in Thailand ⋅ ⛅ 84 °F

As we continued walking around the night market, I could still feel tiny pieces of the bug I ate between my teeth and around the inside of my mouth. I guess it’s because of the hard shell like body that most insects have. While I’m glad that I tried it once, I don’t think that I’ll be eating any more bugs.Read more

  • Neon

    November 2, 2024 in Thailand ⋅ ⛅ 84 °F

I’m a big fan of neon signs and I love how well they always come out in pictures. This sign is for a seafood restaurant and the bright vibrant colors make the place look so inviting!

  • Magnets

    November 2, 2024 in Thailand ⋅ ⛅ 84 °F

Wherever our travels take us, I like to pick up a few magnets for our refrigerator back home. They are very decorative and also provide us with some great memories whenever we’re in the kitchen.
