    I'm Here!

    October 21, 2013 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 84 °F

I've just arrived at Orlando International Airport for my first ever solo trip to Walt Disney World. I'm so happy to be here but I'm also a bit nervous about traveling here by myself. I think that this trip is definitely going to be an experience! This is the bus that's going to take me to Walt Disney World, so let's get started!Read more

  • Take Me to Disney World!

    October 21, 2013 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 84 °F

I'm on the bus and ready to go to Walt Disney World. This is the Disney Magical Express, a free bus service for guests staying at the Disney resort. It picks you up at the airport and takes you to your hotel. At the end of your stay, you ride the bus back to the airport. It's a very good, and convenient, service.Read more

  • And We're Off!

    October 21, 2013 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 84 °F

We're just starting to get going and I'm happy to see that the bus is so empty. I'm hoping that there won't be too many stops until I'm dropped off. I don't think that there will be. I said before what a great service Disney's Magical Express is. Well, it's great for Disney too. Because they are taking me to the hotel, I'm not renting a car. Without a car, I can't get out of the Disney resort to eat, shop, or visit other attractions in Orlando. All of the money I spend on this trip will go to the Disney company and all it cost them is a round trip bus ride. That's good business sense.Read more

  • My Room

    October 21, 2013 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 84 °F

This is my room at Disney's Pop Century Resort and my home for the next few days. I don't need two beds but I guess that's the way all the rooms are. It's a comfortable looking room, but I don't plan on spending a lot of time here. In fact, I'm on my way out right now!Read more

  • Big Wheel

    October 21, 2013 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 88 °F

My hotel room was in the 70's area of the Pop Century Resort and this was my view as I walked outside. I remember these Big Wheels back from when I was a kid so well. They were even more popular than bicycles!Read more

  • It's For You!

    October 21, 2013 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 88 °F

I remember these Mickey Mouse phones when I was a kid! I wanted to get one so bad but my parents refused, telling me that it was a waste of money and a regular phone works just as well for much cheaper. I disagreed and kept saying that I was going to get one when I grew up. Of course, by that time, they weren't being made anymore. I never ended up getting one.Read more

  • Rubik's Cube

    October 21, 2013 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 88 °F

Although I never got that Mickey Mouse phone, I did have a Rubik's Cube. While it was a lot of fun to play with, and kept me busy for hours, I never did manage to solve it. This is, pretty much, what mine always looked like. I knew how to match up the colors on one side but that was as far as I got with it.Read more

  • Duncan Imperial

    October 21, 2013 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 88 °F

I had a couple of yoyo's when I was a kid also. They looked just like this one too. Duncan Imperial was the best brand out there. Although yoyo's were more of a 60's thing, they were still popular when I was young. This was seen in the 60's area of Pop Century, in fact. I need to pass through there to get to the reception area and bus stops.Read more

  • Goofy

    October 21, 2013 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 88 °F

Life-size, and many larger than life, Disney characters are set up all around the resort. This figure of Goofy is right next to the big blue yo-yo. So far, I'm very impressed by the Pop Century Resort.Read more

  • The Pool

    October 21, 2013 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 88 °F

The closest pool to my room is in the 60's area. While it looks so colorful and inviting, I don't have any plans to use it. I can go swimming in a pool while I'm back home. I'm here in Orlando to visit the parks! I didn't even bother to bring a swimsuit with me!Read more

  • Park Bound

    October 21, 2013 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 88 °F

I just got on the bus headed to Disney's Hollywood Studios. The wait time for a bus to arrive was shorter than what I had expected and it wasn't crowded at all, letting me have my pick of seats. I think it was because I'm starting out to the parks relatively late today but I'm still happy about it.Read more

  • Disney Transportation

    October 21, 2013 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 88 °F

A lot of people like to complain about the transportation system at Walt Disney World but I've never really had any problems with it. Yes, it can be slow at the end of the day and the parks are closing and I've had to stand a couple of times but, on the plus side, I don't have to deal with parking fees, looking for a spot to park, or dealing with traffic.Read more

  • No Tram Rides

    October 21, 2013 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 88 °F

In what felt like no time at all, the bus dropped me off at Disney Hollywood Studios. While it was great being dropped off so close to the park entrance, I have to admit that I miss riding on the parking tram. Seeing that I'll be using Disney transportation this whole trip, I'm not going to be riding on the trams at all.Read more

  • Oscar's Garage

    October 21, 2013 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 88 °F

A walk through your favorite Disney theme parks might remind you of another time, when filling your gas tank was an interaction and an experience, not simply just a passing transaction that emptied your wallet.
As you step into Disney’s Hollywood Studios, you’ll find that you can still get ‘Super Service’ at Oscars. It has to be super service, because the old tow truck advertised towing for the stars. That meant everything had to be squeaky clean – for a service station at least. Even the attendants dressed in spotless white uniforms would meet you with a smile as you drove in to fill up your car, while providing you with a cold beverage to go.

  • Crossroads of the World

    October 21, 2013 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 88 °F

I got into the park very quickly because I'm using something new that Disney World is trying out, a magic band. In fact, I'm part of the test group for this device. It's like a watch and a chip inside of it holds all your information. It has your park tickets, your fast passes, credit card information and it also works as your room key. This is an amazing gadget and I think it's going to be used for even more things in the Disney Parks one day.Read more

  • Mickey's of Hollywood

    October 21, 2013 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 88 °F

Hollywood Boulevard is Disney Hollywood Studios answer to Main Street in the Magic Kingdom. It's a street lined with various shops and snack stands. All of the are like this, showing off the classic look of old time Hollywood. I'm loving all the neon on this street!Read more

  • Pluto

    October 21, 2013 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 88 °F

This is my favorite bit of neon on Hollywood Boulevard. Pluto sits up on top of the roofs and watches everyone passing by beneath him. At night, when the lights are on, it looks like he's wagging his tail.Read more

  • The Darkroom

    October 21, 2013 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 88 °F

This should be my favorite shop at Disney Hollywood Studios but, while I love the look of this store, it's actually quite disappointing inside. The photography gear for sale is almost non-existent and seems to be more for people who don't know very much, if anything, about photography. It's not really fair to expect this small shop to be a photography store but I did expect a bit more than photo albums and autograph books.Read more

  • Bye, Pluto!

    October 21, 2013 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 88 °F

With one last look at the neon Pluto, I'm ready to move more further along on Hollywood Boulevard and see what else this park has to offer. I hope that I remember to get some shots of neon Pluto when he's all lit up at night.Read more

  • Head to Toe

    October 21, 2013 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 88 °F

From the name of this shop, I'm guessing that this is some kind of a clothing store. It used to be that I wouldn't shop very much until the end of the day because I didn't want to carry everything around with me all day long. Now, since I'm staying at a Disney resort hotel, I can buy stuff and then just pick it up at my hotel later. How convenient!Read more

  • Go!

    October 21, 2013 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 88 °F

It's the little details like this that make me love coming to the Disney Parks so much. Yes, it's something so small and seemingly insignificant but all of those little things add up to create a totally immersive atmosphere like no other. This is the sort of thing that keeps me, and so many others, coming back.Read more

  • Disney & Co.

    October 21, 2013 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 88 °F

Hollywood Boulevard serves as the park's main entrance and is lined with themed streetscape facades and venues selling Disney merchandise and park services. Michael Eisner, who had a major part in the park's creation ever since the earliest development, demanded the opening land operate on the same principle as Main Street, U.S.A. but in a style more fitting to the Studios.Read more

  • Hollywood and Vine

    October 21, 2013 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 88 °F

I've eaten here before but it was many years ago during a trip to Orlando with Susan, Dennis, Sandy and Veronica. She was so young then! I remember it being a character meal and we met Minnie Mouse, Pluto, Chip and Dale. I remember it being a good meal and that we all had lots of fun. I wouldn't mind eating here again sometime but not this time. I wouldn't do a character meal on my own.Read more

  • S.S. Down the Hatch

    October 21, 2013 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 88 °F

Drop your anchor at the rustic “S.S. Down the Hatch” ship on Echo Lake for a quick meal at the Dockside Diner. Formerly known as Min and Bill’s Dockside Diner, this spot is open during lunch and dinner in the Echo Lake area of Disney’s Hollywood Studios. There are plenty of tables right in front, with lots of umbrellas to keep guests comfortable.Read more
