Pluto

Neon and sunsets seem to work very well together. This shot of a neon Pluto on Hollywood Boulevard really came out nice!
Departing Guests

With a final look at the departing guests, I decided to start getting over to the staging area for Fantasmic. I’m hoping that it’s not too crowded there yet!
Tower of Terror

Fantastic is put on all the way in the back of the park, near the Tower of Terror. I should be there soon. I’m seeing more people heading there now so I’m thinking that it will probably be crowded.
Mouse About Town

I’m trying to get to the Fantasmic stage as quickly as I can but I keep getting distracted by these great photo opportunities. I’m loving how much neon is used in Disney’s Hollywood Studios!
Hollywood Tower Hotel

This attraction looks great during the day but it’s even better looking as it starts getting dark. I think that dusk is the best time for pictures of Tower of Terror. It also looks good at night butLæs mere
I’m Here!

I got a seat for Fantasmic but it’s not as close to the stage as I was hoping. I’m actually very surprised by how crowded it is here. I’ve never seen Fantasmic so I’m really looking forward to this!
It’s Mickey!

Finally the show has begun! Mickey Mouse just appeared on stage and the crowd went wild. This is going to be a great show!
Water and Lights

The water and lighting is making this show look really good. I’m so happy that I decided to come here tonight!
This is Great!

I had thought that I wasn’t close enough but I’m starting to feel that sitting further back is probably better. The staging area is huge and it’s looking like all of it is going to be used forLæs mere
Good Lighting!

The dramatic lighting used during this show was very effective and definitely made Fantasmic more interesting and exciting to watch.
It’s Rafiki

Boats with different characters began sailing across the lake but, unfortunately, it was so dark that it was a bit difficult to make out who they were and nearly impossible to get usable pictures.Læs mere
Governor Ratcliffe Arrives

The stage has been transformed into colonial Virginia and we see Governor Ratcliffe and his men claiming the land and, I suppose, making their plans. There’s no spoken words in this show andLæs mere
The Fight

Suddenly, the Virginia Company is attacked by, what I assume are Indians, and there’s a lot of fighting and running around. I’m glad that I’ve seen the Pocahontas movie or I’d have no ideaLæs mere
Belle and the Beast

As the fighting ended, Belle and the Beast go sailing by on one of the many floats. I’m not really able to follow the story of Fantasmic and I’m starting to wonder if there even is a story to thisLæs mere
Snow White

Snow White and the Prince floated by next. I’m starting to realize that there is no coherent story in this show. It’s just a collection of scenes all put together with many good effects.
The Evil Queen

There’s a lot of Disney villains appearing in this show. I rarely see them in other shows or greeting guests around the parks, so this makes for a nice change.
Jafar

Jafar, from Aladdin, appeared next. This was the biggest, and best, of the characters to appear so far. I’m thinking that there are a bunch of people underneath the snake costume, kind of like theLæs mere
Mickey to the Rescue

Mickey, dressed up as the Brave Little Tailor, comes out to fight Jafar the snake. I understand that Mickey Mouse is the star of the show, but why is he dressed up as the Brave Little Tailor?
Maleficent

After Mickey defeats Jafar, Maleficent the dragon appears. This is the biggest character in Fantasmic yet so I’m that this is probably going to be the finale.
Fire and Water

This is definitely going to be the final scene with the Disney villains because it looks like they are pulling out all the stops with the fire and water displays. It’s getting very exciting!
The Dragon

The pictures I took of Maleficent are the best ones I got from Fantasmic. I’m really glad that these came out so well because I think that this giant dragon was the highlight of the show.
Is it Over?

Mickey defeated Maleficent, of course, so I’m guessing that the show is over? It’s kind of anticlimactic and I was expecting a better ending than this.
It’s Not Over Yet!

Apparently the show isn’t over yet because I see a white steamship driving out of the mist. It looks like it has a lot of characters on it too.
Steamboat Willie

Mickey Mouse is piloting the boat, dressed up as his first appearance ever, Steamboat Willie. This was a cartoon that was released in 1928.
Steamboat Passengers

Steamboat Willie is especially notable for being one of the first cartoons with synchronized sound. Walt Disney understood from early on that synchronized sound was the future of film. SteamboatLæs mere
