  • Dinosaur!

    October 21, 2013 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 88 °F

This dinosaur, which houses Dinosaur Gertie’s Ice Cream of Extinction, has often made me wonder…why a dinosaur? If Disney was going to build an over-sized animal in one of its theme parks, why not choose, I don’t know…a giant mouse?Read more

  • Gertie the Dinosaur

    October 21, 2013 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 88 °F

It turns out that this monstrous dino is actually a tribute to Gertie the Trained Dinosaur, who was one of the first popular animated characters in the history of film. The character was not developed by Walt Disney, but by newspaper cartoonist Winsor McCay, who was later considered by many (including Walt) to be a pioneer in early animation.Read more

  • Shipside Dining

    October 21, 2013 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 88 °F

I've never eaten here yet but, I must admit, it looks very tempting! It's just too bad that you can't eat on the boat itself. Instead, there are lots of tables outside with umbrellas to provide shade. That's something important here in Florida. That hot sun can be brutal!Read more

  • It's Donald!

    October 21, 2013 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 88 °F

Donald Duck is the first character that I've seen since I arrived. I love meeting the characters but the line to see him is very long. It's easier to just stand close by and get pictures of him when he's between meeting guests. You've got to be quick though. The next batch of people approach him so fast!Read more

  • The Hat

    October 21, 2013 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 88 °F

This big sorcerer's hat is the Hollywood Studios icon, sort of like the castle at the Magic Kingdom or Spaceship Earth at Epcot. For some reason, this hat isn't very popular and gets a lot of compliments. I don't understand why though. I don't have any problems with the hot.Read more

  • Daisy Duck

    October 21, 2013 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 88 °F

Daisy is a character that's somewhat rare to see in the parks so I was very happy to see her making an appearance today. I'm not sure about what she's wearing though. It kind of looks like a maternity blouse. Is Daisy Duck pregnant?Read more

  • Stitch

    October 21, 2013 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 88 °F

I've seen Stitch a couple of times but I've never interacted with him or took a picture with him. I see here that Stich is returning an autograph book to someone. I never got into that but, when they were younger, Veronica and Bryan loved collecting character autographs. I guess that it's more something that appeals to kids.Read more

  • Graumann's Chinese Theater

    October 21, 2013 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 88 °F

If you're a movie buff, then you would love seeing all your old favorites in the Great Movie Ride. This attraction is housed in a full-scale replica of Hollywood's legendary Graumann's Chinese Theater. In the cement outside the theater you can find hand, foot (and paw) prints of popular Disney stars and characters.Read more

  • The Great Movie Ride

    October 21, 2013 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 88 °F

The Great Movie Ride is one of my favorite attractions in Disney Hollywood Studios. It's a great way to relax and immerse yourself in the movies. I used to work in a movie theater, and have always loved movies, so maybe that's why I have a special affection for this ride.Read more

  • Roger Rabbit

    October 21, 2013 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 88 °F

Here's another set of footprints of a Disney "celebrity", Roger Rabbit. I think it's kind of silly for Disney to display the footprints of imaginary characters in front of the theater. They should be showing hand and footprints of real actors and actresses. I think that those would get more attention than fake characters like this.Read more

  • So Impressive!

    October 21, 2013 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 88 °F

As soon as you get into the Great Movie Ride you are wowed by this very beautiful theater lobby. I'm absolutely amazed by this architecture but I've seen so many people who just run right through this area. They are so intent on getting to the ride as quickly as possible that they don't ever take a moment to appreciate what's around them. I think that's sad.Read more

  • Always Look Up

    October 21, 2013 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 88 °F

As you enter the Chinese Theatre, make sure to look all around and admire the amazing details that are everywhere. Don't forget to look up also or else you might miss these beautiful lanterns hanging from the ceiling throughout the theater. I wonder how close this theater is to the look of the real one in Hollywood.Read more

  • The Queue

    October 21, 2013 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 88 °F

After passing through the theater area, you go through this part of the queue. The whole area looks like a movie theater and, as you pass by, you get to watch trailers for lots of great films. I always feel like I move through this area too quickly. I'd be fine to stand here for a while and watch the coming attractions!Read more

  • Props

    October 21, 2013 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 88 °F

As you move through the queue area, there are many big glass cases filled with props that have actually been used in movies. These props seem to rotate because each time I visit Disney Hollywood Studios the props I see are different.Read more

  • Neon

    October 21, 2013 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 88 °F

Our tram is now moving and we're ready to experience the amazing and wonderful world of the movies! I'm loving all the neon and how colorful this attraction is!

  • Footlight Parade

    October 21, 2013 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 88 °F

The Great Movie Ride contains multiple tributes to the works of Busby Berkeley, particularly with this very first ride scene from the movie Footlight Parade. I've never seen any of the Busby Berkeley movies but, judging from this scene, I don't think that they would really be to my taste.Read more

  • Singing in the Rain

    October 21, 2013 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 88 °F

The next scene that we come to is Gene Kelly performing his iconic Singing in the Rain scene. The majority of the scenes depicted in the Great Movie Ride seem to be very old movies that younger people probably have never heard of. Maybe this attraction should be updated a bit.Read more

  • Mary Poppins

    October 21, 2013 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 88 °F

Describe Mary Poppins? She's "practically perfect in every way," of course. If that's too much of a mouthful for you, she's also a magical nanny, who literally flies into the life of the Banks family of London, England, in 1910. When most people hear the name, they think of the 1964 Walt Disney Pictures movie, adapted from the book series of the same name by P.L. Travers. The film stars Julie Andrews as Mary Poppins, Dick Van Dyke as Bert, David Tomlinson as George Banks and Glynis Johns as Winifred Banks.Read more
