  • The Wolf

    August 22, 2016 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 82 °F

Here's a full body look at one of the wolves. They look so much like dogs but there are some differences. The wolves seem to have much longer legs, making them look a lot taller than dogs. They also seem more powerfully built and stronger. With the very light color these wolves have, they remind me of the direwolves from Game of Thrones.Read more

  • Meeting an Owl

    August 22, 2016 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 82 °F

After the Predators show was over, a few of the park workers were outside the theater was a few different animals, teaching about them and answering any questions people might have had. This barn owl was one of them. He was so tiny! This is the closest I've ever been to a real owl. I wish I could have held him or pet him but, of course, no touching was allowed. Even though he was small, he looked fiesty. I think he might have bit or snapped if anyone got too close.Read more

  • Lorikeet Glen

    August 22, 2016 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 82 °F

After the animal show with the wolves, we made it back to Lorikeet Glen since it was right next the wolf area. We made it just in time, too. The session we got there for was the last feeding of the day. I'm so glad that we made it!Read more

  • Lorikeet

    August 22, 2016 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 82 °F

Stroll through Lorikeet Glen and make a bunch of new friends as colorful birds glide down to greet you from the branches of this fascinating, free-flight aviary. Grab some nectar and feed the birds for yourself for a more personal experience.Read more

  • Hungry Birds

    August 22, 2016 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 82 °F

I did end up having one of the Lorikeets pooping on me but it wasn't so bad. Since all they seem to eat is that nectar I was feeding them, the poop was just like water. It got on my shoulder and one of the shoulder straps of my camera bag. But, since it was so watery, it cleaned off very easily. When we were ready to move on to something else, both of us washed up at the cleaning station by the exit. I had such a great time with the lorikeets!Read more

  • Stromboli?

    August 22, 2016 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 82 °F

After we left Lorikeet Glen, we passed this cart standing alone and abandoned a little ways off the path. I'm not sure why nothing was being done with this cart. I would think that theme parks would try to take advantage of every bit of space that they have but I guess not. This cart reminded me of Stromboli's puppet theater cart from the Pinocchio movie.Read more

  • Back to France

    August 22, 2016 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 82 °F

After we finished up in Lorikeet Glen, we were ready to see more of Busch Gardens so we headed back to France, which was the closest land to Lorikeet Glen.
I always love seeing old painted walls like this but prefer seeing the real thing. This wall, being in a theme park, is obviously fake. Even the cracked plaster doesn't seem quite authentic. Still, it's a nice touch though. I'd rather see this than a blank brick wall.Read more

  • Up, Up and Away!

    August 22, 2016 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 82 °F

This was the one, and only, ride we got on in Busch Gardens. The sky way was a nice way to get us back to the area of the park where we left off. By going on this ride, we gave our feet a rest and got some great aerial views of Busch Gardens.Read more

  • Enjoy the Ride!

    August 22, 2016 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 82 °F

Kathy looked a bit nervous but also happy as we rode the sky ride. I always like this type of ride because they usually have great views and let me get theme park shots that I ordinarily wouldn't be able to get. The higher perspective really changes everything!
Although we're having a lot of fun without getting on the rides, I'm glad that we got to ride something, even though this one is considered more as a transportation convenience.

  • Almost There!

    August 22, 2016 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 82 °F

All too soon we were back in the Land of Dragons and almost ready to disembark. This was a great ride, and I enjoyed it but it also made me a bit sad to think that this was the only ride I'd be getting on today. I don't like this trend that theme parks have been embracing, turning into rollercoaster parks. I understand that the rollercoasters, and other very wild rides, are big draws for park attendance but not everyone likes, or can even get on, those wild rides.
I've gone over this already, I think, so I don't want to belabor the point but it is a subject that I feel strongly about. Until this is addressed, and I don't think it ever will be, I'm much more inclined to visit the Disney parks rather than these big rollercoaster parks.

  • A Vanishing Breed

    August 22, 2016 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 82 °F

A lot of theme parks have discontinued rides like this. I'm not sure why but they always claim it's for "safety concerns". I've seen reports in the news about people falling out of these carts, usually the people who fall die.
Is this really the fault of the ride or the parks? I don't think so because, when I was young, every amusement park in the country had this kind of ride and nobody ever had a problem with it. People were told to stay seated and keep their hands and arms inside the cart and, big surprise, they did it. Nowdays, people refuse to follow all sorts of rules and directions. Then, when something happens, it's the park's fault rather than the stupid people who won't follow the rules. I don't know why they ignore all the directions, since these rules are in place for their own safety. Because of too many stupid people not following rules, and common sense safety ideas, we have almost lost great rides like this. I don't know why people now act so stupid and have such a sense of entitlement. Everything was so much better the way it used to be.

  • The Land of Dragons

    August 22, 2016 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 82 °F

The Land of Dragons was as if we'd never left. There was lots of little kids running around and having a lot of fun. Sometimes I miss the days of our kids being small like that. We had so many good times in places like this.
Our kids are all grown up now and times spent in places like the Land of Dragons are far behind us. Although I miss the days of the kids being small, I'm so happy about the place Kathy and I are in now. We've definitely earned time for ourselves and we're enjoying very good times together.
I guess the lesson learned is to enjoy every moment in life because each stage passes by all too quickly.

  • The Curse of DarKastle

    August 22, 2016 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 82 °F

Germany was the next land that we came to after the Land of Dragons. Unlike the rest of the park, a lot of Germany seemed to be very dark and foreboding. This castle was one of the first things we saw in Germany and it seemed to set the mood perfectly for what this land was all about.Read more

  • Stones Wolves

    August 22, 2016 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 82 °F

This is one of the wolves standing guard outside of DarKastle and he really adds to the gloomy and gothic atmosphere. Apparently, the Curse of DarKastle is some sort of virtual reality rollercoaster that starts as an enchanted sleigh ride but ends up in a bone-chilling chase packed with dizzying drops, surprise twists and some sensational 3-D visuals. I don't know if this is an actual rollercoaster or just some sort of 4D VR show. We didn't go on this because we thought it was either a real rollercoaster or a haunted house. If it's just a VR sort of show, I think that we would have liked it.Read more

  • Two German Staples

    August 22, 2016 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 82 °F

Not everything in Germany was dark and gloomy. This beer and pretzel shop looks very friendly and festive. We went inside here to see the pretzels being made and, due to how good everything looked, we ended up buying some. Wow! They tasted so much better than we were expecting them too. They were cooked perfectly and they tasted so fresh and delicious. They were even still warm when we got them. I'm going to like Germany!Read more

  • Mach Tower

    August 22, 2016 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 82 °F

After we got our pretzels, we found an open table next to this attraction, Mach Tower. This is sort of like a Free Fall ride but it goes up and down, kind of like Disney's Tower of Terror. I don't care for this ride, although I love the Tower of Terror. I guess I get all caught up in the storyline and theme of the ride at the Disney parks. For this one, they just shoot you up to the top, which looks VERY high, and drop you a few times. This is just a little too scary for me!Read more

  • More Mach Tower

    August 22, 2016 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 82 °F

Here's a more imposing look at Mach Tower, to give a sense of how high up this attraction goes. Kathy and Veronica have always loved rides like this. Usually, they will ride while I wandered around taking pictures and then I will meet them after they finish the ride. Everyone is happy!Read more
