• 7. Day Aizu + Lake Inawashiro 41km

    9. august 2024, Japan ⋅ ☁️ 24 °C

Got up early. Slept in a park close to a dam with a toilet nearby. It was a bit spooky, cause some animals touched or attacked my tent at night. (Maybe it was just the wind... Haha)
So, Aizuwakamatsu is famous for his history of samurai. I went to the beautiful castle which was rebuilt recently with a museum inside. A lot of the descriptions and signs are only japanese but still informative and interesting. Plus you get to experience the view from the top of the castle.

After I gathered a few Stamps, I went to an old samurai estate. Super interesting. Huge recommendation. They even translated most of the stuff in English. Didn't take any pictures though. Please go see it yourself ;)

Aizu is famous for its Sauce Katsu. It's a fried pork cutlet with a special umami sauce on top. Oishiii af( super delicious).

In the evening I drove over to Lake Inawashiro. Best decision ever! The japanese tend to leave lakes naturally, so you don't have much civilization nor cities around lakes. Lake Inawashiro is huge and beautiful. On arrival I jumped immediately in the lake, set up my tent and sat down at the lake to enjoy the scenery while listening to my favourite music and eating a bento box. Special place. Across the lake I was even able to see fireworks.
