The old whaling station at Grytviken is full of South Georgia's heritage. The museum was excellent and provided a window on life as a whaler. Our guide was a girl from the Shetlands whose grandfathers had been whalers on South Georgia. Most of the wooden buildings are long gone, but the machinery is rusting beautifully. The whole place has an eerie quality and has been largely taken over by the wildlife. The highlight was visiting Shackleton's grave in the small cemetery and paying our respects to The Boss.Baca lagi
