Finally, we sailed south of 60° into the Antarctic. Our first visit was to Elephant Island, where we viewed chinstrap penguins and the incredible forbidding scenery by zodiac. Finally, we landed at Neko Harbour on the Peninsula, where we arrived at the same time as the gentoo penguins! What an amazing morning that was! In a day of two halves, the afternoon took us to Cuverville Island in almost horizontal snow to view a huge number of new gentoo arrivals.
