    If like ourselves you take the train to Ercolano to visit the Archaeological park beware of two things, whoever said that the walk from the station to the site was 300m had a very good imagination and secondly make sure you get on the correct train back again. If it had not been for the assistance of a very nice Italian man who took us back to our campsite in his car I think we would still be wandering the suburbs of Pompeii.🤷🏼‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️🫏
    Back to business. Herculaneum being much smaller than Pompeii is a great introduction to the area. Only about 10 acres in total it makes for a pleasant wander amongst the ruins of the ancient Roman town which is generally better preserved than its big brother.. it is believed that most of the residents fled the area before it was to late but that is not so down in the boat sheds where grim discoveries were made. Although the skeletons are models they have been replaced in the same positions they were found.
