  • Channel Tunnel

    September 3 in England ⋅ 🌧 19 °C

Lots of changes since we were last here with a big new drive through building which I suspect is for the upcoming customs scheme.
Bit of a delay but we are loading ready for the crossing to France.

  • Port de Plaisance

    September 4 in Belgium ⋅ ☁️ 15 °C

As the crossing was running late and the driving conditions were bad because of the rain we decided to do an overnight stop on the way to Dinant in Belgium 🇧🇪 which is only a couple of hours away from where we are now. €10.00 a night in cash that is collected at about 6.00pm every day. There are no Motorhome facilities here but there is a restaurant and showers available if you feel the need to get clean.Read more

  • Dinant

    September 5 in Belgium ⋅ ⛅ 20 °C

We are now parked up at Camping Dinant In the Walloon region of Belgium and only a short way from the centre. Interesting touristy town with lots of history. A must is the Citadel up on the cliffs and reached by the Gondola 🚠 from down in the town. Adolphe Sax was born here and just a walk across the bridge leaves you in no doubt what he invented.
There is a new word being used on this trip after seeing the barges on the river and that is “Mahoosive”. If you need to ask then that is bigger than big.

  • Trier

    September 8 in Germany ⋅ ☁️ 21 °C

Just a short scooter ride along the river bank from the Stellplatze and you find yourself at Porta Nigra, one of four gates to the old Roman city but the only one still in existence. A wander around the square to take in a few more sites and a ride on the tourist train which seems to be the norm on our trips and we left feeling a bit underwhelmed by the place. Before leaving we had to grab a picture of Triers’ famous son, Karl Marx.Read more

  • Wohnmobilsteplatz RitschBlick

    September 11 in Germany ⋅ ☁️ 16 °C

We have found a great little park up in the village of Thornich on the banks of the Mosel complete with a fridge full of wine and an honesty box and only about 30 mins away from Trier. The plan to stay here for a couple of days and have a ride along the river on our bikes has gone a bit astray as we have discovered that there is a wine festival in the village at the weekend so we will probably hang around for that.Read more

  • Rides of the River Bank

    September 13 in Germany ⋅ ☁️ 13 °C

I have never been to this area of Germany before but here we are in amongst the Vines by the Mosel. We have ridden our bikes along the river and through the villages even stopping for lunch and of course watching those “Mahoosive” boats. I am finding it impossible to explain the amount of Grapevines that are around us. Simple photos of the area cannot do it justice. I think that it is fair to say that “ you cannot see the wood for the vines”.🤷🏼‍♂️Read more

  • Thornich Wine Festival

    September 13 in Germany ⋅ ☁️ 17 °C

So we stayed for the wine festival over the weekend of the 12th and very pleasing it was too. Wine to be had by the glass or by the bottle with free tasting on the Saturday. A really good band played throughout the evening belting out songs in both German and English, “99 Luftballons” is always a winner and then the heavens opened but failed to dampen anyone’s enthusiasm. The rain was so heavy that for a short while the band had to stop while the squeegees came out to clear the water off of the stage.Read more

  • Tauern Camping Radstadt

    September 17 in Austria ⋅ ⛅ 16 °C

We have spent the last couple of days travelling across Germany and have now arrived in Austria in the town of Radsadt just a bit south of Salzburg. The weather is looking good for the next few days so we will stay here and get a look around the area. Not a bad looking building for a campsite reception.Read more

  • ZauchenSee

    September 18 in Austria ⋅ ☀️ 16 °C

After picking up the usual tourism leaflets from the campsite reception including one for cycle routes, today we decided to ride the bikes up to ZauchenSee. According to the directions it was “a slightly ascending cycle path in the forest”. That may be so but for us used to the flat lands of the fens in East Anglia it was quite a task but we made it (just). We then took the Chair Lift up into the mountains for a look around and beer 🍺 of course. I should add that the ride back down was rather quick.Read more

  • Radstadt

    September 19 in Austria ⋅ ☀️ 26 °C

Pop across the road from the campsite and you are in the town centre. It still exhibits tales from the past with there being a couple of towers to photograph and what’s left of the outer wall. As I suspect that this is a winter ski resort it came as no surprise to see all the bars and restaurants in such a small town. We tried one for coffee and apple strudel.Read more

  • Camper Stop Ljubljana

    September 21 in Slovenia ⋅ ☁️ 27 °C

Austria has been left in the distance as we move on and are now parked up in a Camper Stop opposite the Livada restaurant close to the centre of Ljubljana in Slovenia. No motorhome services available only parking but it is well placed to either bike or walk into the centre.Read more

  • Ljubljana

    September 22 in Slovenia ⋅ ⛅ 25 °C

Our first time here in Slovenia and although we are only passing through we thought a bit of sightseeing was in order. What a great place they have here to call their Capital City. If you are thinking about a trip here then don’t wait just get over to this friendly city and enjoy the place. Lots of sightseeing, shopping and of course eating, (the waitress supplied a pair of scissors to cut the pizza with)🤷🏼‍♂️.
Our norm of a ride on the tourist train was bound to happen and we supplimented it with a boat trip on the river as well.

  • Camp Peskera

    September 26 in Croatia ⋅ ☀️ 21 °C

So here we are in Croatia in the town of Banjole on the Istrian peninsula. I believe I am correct when I say that wild camping here is prohibited and Aires are difficult to find so that leaves official camp sites and most of those are closed for the season. It does not matter though as we have found an absolute cracker that is still open for us to stay at for the next few days. Right by the sea in the sun, who could ask for more?Read more

  • Camp Skradinske

    September 29 in Croatia ⋅ ☀️ 12 °C

After leaving the camp site in Banjole our plan was to visit the caves in the Pecinski park Grabovaca but on arrival I was the only person there for the tour so unfortunately they would not go unless more people arrived which of course they didn’t but we did get to stay in their car park overnight free of charge. We moved on and are now parked up in Camp Skradinkse Delicije just a few hundred metres from the town of Skradin.Read more

  • Skradin

    September 30 in Croatia ⋅ ☁️ 22 °C

Walking from the campsite Skradin seems a bit run done but as you approach the marina it cheers up no end with bars and restaurants a plenty. So why are we here apart from the waterfall trip? The famous Skradin cake of course. 🍰 Tastes good 👍Read more

  • Skradinski Buk

    October 1 in Croatia ⋅ ☁️ 17 °C

A short boat trip up river into KrKa National park and you arrive at Skradinki Buk, the first stopping off point for the waterfalls. From here you can get further boat trips into the park along with plenty of walking paths to explore and of course over priced food venders.Read more

  • Camping Split

    October 4 in Croatia ⋅ ☀️ 16 °C

Camping Split is not actually in Split but along the coast a short way in Stobrec. High end site with a price to match but it is quality throughout. Nice restaurant, swimming pool and just as important it is just a stones throw away from the sea.Read more

  • Split Old Town

    October 6 in Croatia ⋅ ☀️ 18 °C

After reading a few descriptions of Split the one stand out thing seemed to be that a visit to the Diocletian’s Palace was a must. So with a bit of help from Uber we set off for a visit. Now here’s the thing. The Palace is not some grand building on a hill top but very much a part of the old town itself. Bars, restaurants, shops and even apartments blend together with the old Roman ruins waiting to be investigated.
After allowing ourselves to wander the old streets and alleyways for a while we decided a rest was required so dived into a bar for coffee and a bite to eat before heading off again.

  • Lunch on the Hill

    October 8 in Croatia ⋅ ☀️ 20 °C

Taking the coast road from our campsite near Split to Dubrovnik today just for the views. Stopped for lunch only to discover that they sell wine from their own Vineyards 🍷 Result.

  • Camping Kate

    October 8 in Croatia ⋅ ☀️ 20 °C

Going to stay here a while, visit Dubrovnik and then head off to Italy on the ferry. Sun is shining, that’s the main thing.

  • Mlini

    October 10 in Croatia ⋅ ☀️ 20 °C

Down the steep steps from the campsite is the pretty little harbour in Mlini and the perfect place to catch the water taxi to Dubrovnik 🛥️
It just so happens that it is prize night for the big game fishing competition while we are here. Croatian music supplied by a local band.Read more

  • Dubrovnik old town

    October 10 in Croatia ⋅ ☀️ 21 °C

We approached Dubrovnik by taxi boat that dropped us off in the old town harbour ready to get into a bit of sightseeing but wow. It was packed with people who had the same idea as ourselves and here we are in the second week of October. It is a UNESCO world heritage site of restaurants, cafes and bars. I am in no hurry to go back, not even to have my picture taken with a model of Tyrion Lannister.Read more

  • Three Islands Boat Trip

    October 11 in Croatia ⋅ ⛅ 20 °C

Leaving Mlini in our wake we travelled onto Dubrovnik to pick up more holiday makers like ourselves. We got to see some of the outer walls of Dubrovnik from the sea but not much else to say really. It was a day out on a boat stopping at the harbours of three little islands to admire the view which was similar to the view at Mlini harbour. 🤷🏼‍♂️Read more
