• Haugesund of the Underground

    April 30, 2024 in Norway ⋅ 🌬 17 °C

Today we arrived in Haugesund, a waterfront city.
We actually arrived in an industrial port area which was about a 20 minute walk to the city. We spent the morning exploring the sights and enjoying the riverside views and viewpoints.
We walked back to the boat for lunch (racked up over 20,000 steps today!) then back to Haugesund again for more exploring.
This afternoon we found the town hall square and park, where we enjoyed the lovely weather, and had frozen yogurt on the Riverside.
There is a statue of Marilyn Monroe as apparently her Dad was from here!
There were some really cool shops here including second hand and antique shops. We found a lovely antique shop and bought some pictures which were half price as they were sadly closing down. We had a long chat with the owner and I was really pleased we'd stumbled across it.
This evening we went to the Crows Nest which is a fancy bar where we enjoyed a cocktail during the sail away.
After dinner we went to see the Sea shanty band again, The Privateers, as they were brilliant on the first night. Then some comedy and a well deserved rest after a busy day!
