    Ok to Fjord

    26. april 2024, England ⋅ ☁️ 9 °C

Today we travelled to Southampton to embark on Brittannia, our transport to travel to the Fjords!
After a few queues we made it onto the boat and watched the boat sail away from a gloomy Southampton. We spent the afternoon exploring the boat, which is bigger than the ship we went on in the Caribbean!
Had a nice dinner and a drink, then watched the first theatre show of the trip, which was a sea shanty band! A fitting start to the holiday.

  • Sea what we're up to today

    27. april 2024, North Sea ⋅ ☁️ 7 °C

Enjoying a day at Sea today whilst we travel to Norway. We had a bit of a lazy morning, including a nap as we lost an hour's sleep with the clock moving forward an hour!
Whilst Tom went to the gym I checked out the shops and booked myself a pedicure for later in the week as we had a voucher. It was nice to relax with a book and coffee and people watch.
Next step was the cinema to watch Wonka! We both really enjoyed it.
A bit more exploring, including finding the library and a lookout bar which we want to go back to, then got dressed up for our black tie dinner this evening. This ship has so many different Entertainment options , we caught a soul singer show and a comedy show before calling it a night.
    Stavanger tomorrow!

  • Don't look back in StavAnger

    28. april 2024, Norge ⋅ ☁️ 8 °C

Arrived in Stavanger this morning. We were very excited to get off the ship today to explore.
We spent the morning exploring, firstly starting off in the old town where all the houses are wooden and very traditional scandi style!
We came across a lovely street too that was all brightly coloured houses. We noticed something odd though, nothing was open! We realised because it is a Sunday. Literally nothing was open which was a shame as the shops looked really lovely. We managed to find a cute coffee shop to stop off and hide from the rain. We headed back to the boat for lunch , as Norway is very expensive!
After lunch we had another walk and explore but got very soggy so opted to come back and go to the cinema this afternoon to watch the new Indiana Jones (which was long!)
Would recommend Stavanger as it is very pretty, but don't visit on a Sunday!
We had a really fun evening with dinner, musical bingo (instead of numbers it was songs) and a silent disco!

  • Lets be a'Loen together

    29. april 2024, Norge ⋅ ☁️ 7 °C

Arrived in Olden this morning, our excursion today was in Loen, only a few minutes drive along the coastline.
We'd booked a cable car ride called Loen Skylift which takes you up to the top of the mountain. At the top we spent ages exploring the snow and enjoying the views, even going in an Igloo!
Stopped off for a hot chocolate in the nice warm cafe and again marvelled at the incredible scenery.
The ride down was certainly stomach lurching, it went to the bottom of the mountain in 5 minutes, felt like we were on a roller coaster!
At the bottom we went for a walk into Loen village, consisting mainly of me commenting on how cute the houses looked, and we spotted a traditional Norwegian church too.
After a lunch stop on the boat we went for another walk in the other direction, then time for a well deserved nap before dinner.
We watched the sail away from the deck and got some more of those lovely views in!
This evening after dinner we watched the theatre show then did a movie quiz, but we were a bit rubbish.

  • Haugesund of the Underground

    30. april 2024, Norge ⋅ 🌬 17 °C

Today we arrived in Haugesund, a waterfront city.
We actually arrived in an industrial port area which was about a 20 minute walk to the city. We spent the morning exploring the sights and enjoying the riverside views and viewpoints.
We walked back to the boat for lunch (racked up over 20,000 steps today!) then back to Haugesund again for more exploring.
This afternoon we found the town hall square and park, where we enjoyed the lovely weather, and had frozen yogurt on the Riverside.
There is a statue of Marilyn Monroe as apparently her Dad was from here!
There were some really cool shops here including second hand and antique shops. We found a lovely antique shop and bought some pictures which were half price as they were sadly closing down. We had a long chat with the owner and I was really pleased we'd stumbled across it.
This evening we went to the Crows Nest which is a fancy bar where we enjoyed a cocktail during the sail away.
After dinner we went to see the Sea shanty band again, The Privateers, as they were brilliant on the first night. Then some comedy and a well deserved rest after a busy day!

  • Enter KristianSand Man

    1. mai 2024, Norge ⋅ 🌬 15 °C

Our last stop of the trip is to Kristiansand. It's a lovely coastal town with a really pretty marina and city beach. We spent the morning enjoying the sun and following the path around the marina.
Typically, it was a bank holiday which meant all the shops and museums were closed, but we managed to get a coffee and have a wander around the old town. We then walked up a big hill to get those all important views.
Feeling exhausted, we stopped for lunch at the boat then headed out again, this time headed to the park which was up another big hill, but was very beautiful with lots of pretty lakes. We shared a huge ice cream before walking back, racking up an impressive 29000 steps today!
This evening, after another nap, we watched the sail away and felt a bit sad we are embarking on our journey home.
We had a very tasty dinner and joined in with a couple of quizzes this evening.
Sea day tomorrow to travel back!

  • Sea you later Norway

    3. mai 2024, England ⋅ ☁️ 9 °C

Today was a sea day for our journey back to Southampton. To be honest I completely forgot to take photos except this one of my cake, they had some great gluten free options on board!
I had a pedicure this morning as we we had booked the spa but there was an issue and they couldn't open it. So we had a voucher to spend. I'd never had a pedicure and it was very nice!
After lunch we sat on deck and enjoyed the sun, it was surprisingly warm! We went in the pool , hot tub and steam room to do a DIY spa experience.
After dinner we did a couple of quizzes and watched the theatre show. Can't believe we've come to the end of our trip!
