• Gijon a night like this

    8 de setembro, Espanha ⋅ ☁️ 18 °C

Busy day today. We were excited to disembark in Gijon, Spain.

When we arrived, it was a bit drizzly and we were avoiding showers all day. It was around 18-20 degrees, not entirely what we were expecting in Spain!

We did a LOT of walking today, around 25,000 steps.
We had a wander around the old town, all the way up to the old military fort, into some churches and then into the town, before realising it must be a bank holiday or something as there weren't many shops open at all.

We did find a cafe called Cat Love and had the best coffee we've had so far (the cruise coffee isn't great).

We then did a longer big walk so Tom could see the football stadium (from the outside) 🙈. Close to the stadium was a lovely park where we saw red squirrels and random birds including parrots, chickens and emus 🐔 🦜

We walked back along the promenade which was really pretty and had lovely views of the beach and the church on the hill. We then had some tasty tapas before having another wander around the old town and finding some live music.

When we got back to the boat we realised the water park was open for the first time. Had a great time going down the slides despite not being particularly warm. We then warmed up in a hot tub overlooking the port for the sail away 🌊

Followed by a drag show, dinner, Karaoke (spectating) and a live band.
