    Honeymoon begins

    April 14, 2023 in Barbados ⋅ ⛅ 27 °C

Arrived in Barbados late last night. Our hotel complex (sandals) is absolutely massive!
We definitely got lost last night, as it gets dark quite early around 6pm.

Today we have been exploring and of course relaxing. We had a go at paddle boarding but unfortunately I wasn't very good, and had to be rescued by a good samaritan jet ski man, which meant I had a free ride! We also went on a hobie boat which was a bit like a windsurf but you can sit on it. Was so much fun!

The afternoon was spent by the pool and swim-up bar, drinking rum cocktails of course!

The gardens at sandals are so beautiful with loads of colourful flowers and blossoms. Have seen a few creatures too, including chickens who have been trying to scrounge from the breakfast buffet!

  • Tobago a-go-go

    April 17, 2023 in Trinidad and Tobago ⋅ ☁️ 28 °C

First stop on our cruise- Tobago!
We had a great excursion today to Argyle waterfalls- to get there we had to walk through the jungle and got to see loads of birds and fruit trees.
Couldn't resist a dip in the falls, it was quite deep though (6 metres) so I didn't swim too far in.
Later on we explored around the port and had a couple of drinks in some bars. Tobago is actually a really small island so we actually drove a fair distance across the island today in the bus. Excited for the rest of the stops!

  • Trinidad Time

    April 18, 2023 in Trinidad and Tobago ⋅ ☁️ 31 °C

Today we arrived in Trinidad which is a much bigger island than the twin state of Tobago. It is much more built up with lots of hotels, industries and high rise buildings which was completely different to Tobago which seemed more remote.

We went on a trip today which took us to the highlights of Trinidad 🇹🇹
Firstly we stopped at the botanical gardens which had some really pretty trees and blossoms. On the way there we stopped at the biggest roundabout in the world which is also known as the savannah as it is so vast!
We then stopped at Maracas point which had some amazing views of the coastline. Trinidad is very mountainous and we travelled round lots of winding hairpin bends which was slightly scary!
Our last stop was Maracas beach where Tom tried the local delicacy- bake n shark, which is pretty much fried shark in a bap!
On return we had a walk around the port however we didn't find much to see as it is more of an industrial area. We did find some bars and I discovered a drink I like called Caribe Rose which is like a rose cider, tasty!

  • GreNAYda

    April 19, 2023 in Grenada ⋅ ☀️ 28 °C

Next stop is Grenada, which is pronounced Grenayda, they like to distinguish between the Grenada in Spain.
Our trip today was kayaking, it was really cool as it was a clear bottom kayak so we could see the coral reef and fish underneath us! We had a really great morning which we finished off with a swim in the amazing blue waters. Not forgetting rum punch which the hosts gave us after our swim-so tasty!
After lunch we went to explore the port, it is definitely the prettiest port town we have been to so far, we had a walk around the harbour, went into a chocolate museum and had yet again more rum punch, once in the market and one in a bar. They all tasted slightly different in fairness!

  • Saint Vincent and the Grenadines

    April 20, 2023 in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines ⋅ ☀️ 28 °C

Lovely day today in St Vincent. We had a trip to a black sand beach today. The island of St Vincent is volcanic so the sand is naturally black. Apparently lots of the major resorts have bought in white sand for their beaches as the tourists prefer it!
On arrival to the beach we had yet another rum punch!
We had a go at kayaking again but it was really choppy so we didn't last long. Some other people capsized and I didn't fancy that! We opted for swimming instead and relaxing. The sand was so hot though it hurt my feet.
To return to the cruise we had a catamaran ride along the coast which was amazing. The coastline of St Vincent is beautiful. Also some of pirates of the carribbean was filmed here. Would definitely visit again!

  • Dominica Day- Tubing adventure

    April 21, 2023 in Dominica ⋅ ☀️ 27 °C

Today's stop was Dominica (not to be confused with Dominican Republic!)
When we arrived it was actually raining, however luckily didn't last long and was a beautiful day.
We went river tubing today which we have been looking forward to for ages!
We travelled around an hour by bus into the jungle, the sights were incredible and so much of the island is completely untouched and unspoiled. There are actually indigenous people still living in the jungle which is incredible.
River tubing was so much fun! We had about an hour and a half on the river but I went so quickly!
On the way back we stopped at Hibiscus Falls and everyone in the group was keen for a dip. Was a tad chilly! We also were offered yet another rum punch and fruit.
After the trip we went into the port town of Roseau, and found a bar which had a welsh flag in so obviously Tom wanted to have a drink in there!
    Last stop tomorrow!

  • St lucia

April 22, 2023 in Saint Lucia

Probably one of my favourite days today- arrived in Castries, St Lucia, this morning.
What a beautiful place and lovely and hot too.
Our plan today was a catamaran boat ride which gave us amazing views of the Pitons which are volcanic structures coming up from the sea. We stopped for a swim stop at another black sand beach which was glorious.
The boat trip lasted the morning and went all around the coastline which was beautiful.
In the afternoon we walked into the town and went to an amazing craft Market where I got my souvenirs from the trip.
We made the most of the sun and sat in some bars for the rest of the afternoon.
I've absolutely loved St Lucia and would definitely visit again!

  • Return to Barbados

    April 23, 2023 in Barbados

Last day today. A bit grey and drizzly today which was possibly a sign it was time to return home!
We had an excursion this morning, went to Mount Gay rum distillery for a tour and rum tasting which was extremely strong!
We then went to the beach but we literally took the photos then had to shelter as it was pouring with rain!
Unfortunately we had to go to the airport to travel back home.
It's been an incredible holiday and amazing honeymoon!
Definitely keen to travel to the Caribbean again, love the island vibe, food and rum 🏝
