    Departure from Zurich

    March 9, 2025 in Switzerland ⋅ ☁️ 11 °C

What's up here? --> the first post always starts with that question. And, to answer it: nothing but overpriced parking spaces and overpriced everything. But we are in Zurich so we're used to it, eh?

After our bestie Stevie chauffeured us to the airport, Luke and I grabbed ourselves our signature Chai Lattes and headed to our gates while Luke complained that his bagle was getting cold.🍩🍦🥨

  • Arrival Medina

    March 9, 2025 in Morocco ⋅ 🌙 15 °C

Yay! We arrived in Marrakesh (Medina) and were taxi'd to a square where two men were having a fist fight right in front of our car. Not as spectacular as it sounds, cause they were two thin asparagus-tarzans (=Spargeltarzan=thin men) one of which left on his vespa real quick before it really began.

Two other men from our hotel commenced to pick us and our luggage up. They had a wide wheelbarrow that led the way with our suitcases in it, through the narrow and crowded streets of old town Medina. Of course they wanted a tip, but so far the people are not as intrusive as expected.

I think our highlight so far is our Riad (not a typical hotel!) which is STUNNING.
I can't wait to see more of this.

We explored the streets of Medina shortly after our arrival, had a Morrocan dinner and got back at around 10pm. There are quite a few tourists walking the streets at all hours, so I feel safe and comfortable!!!

  • Exploration Day

    March 10, 2025 in Morocco ⋅ ⛅ 15 °C

Breakfast started late thanks to Ramadan, which I for one am super greatful for. Luke would get up at 8AM (during holidays!) just to have breakfast.
I rather skip right to lunch in those cases.🍕🍔🥓

But! Alas! We ate breakfast with the bees and walked through what felt like entire Marrakesh almost 15k steps later.

The architecture, where still intact, was beautiful.💗

  • Agafay Desert

    March 11, 2025 in Morocco ⋅ ⛅ 13 °C

After a very relaxing start into the day and a chess game later, Luke and I left our Riad at shortly before 2pm to catch our ride into the desert.

First stop was an Argan oil cooperative. The lady spoke so fast that it took maybe 3 minutes to explain the whole production process and all we saw were nutshells and two ladies turning the top of a basket. The rest of our stop was focused on buying the dozens of creams and argan oil variations they offered. And a 100ml bottle of argan oil cost over 20 Swiss Francs.

Sooooo we enjoyed our quad tour a little more since we got our money's worth🤓 Luke was positively surprised I didn't drive like a slow-poke (no clue how he got the notion that I would???). We enjoyed a Morroccan dinner and a cool fireshow. All in all the day was a success! And we're definitely buying argan oil someplace else!
