Slate

As soon as we crossed the mountain pass.....not within a few km but immediately....the buildings changed. Gone were the horreos....not one seen to the south of the pass....and gone too were tiles! Not a tile to be seen but slate everywhere and not just for roofs either they are used for walls ...we have not discovered how yet but we suspect mud bricks faced with slate. They also don't build very well here....many abandoned buildings and all of them in an advanced stage of returning to the earth.Läs mer
