Well this is an interesting place. It is the border fortress opposite Badajoz and a huge 'star fortress' with a 6 km long aqueduct which at some points stands 40m high with four tiers of arches. It was of course moorish but captured in 1166 by Alfonso 1 of Portugal.Læs mere
RejsendeI imagined that the aquaduct was Roman as most are in Iberia- but I was wrong. Turns out that it was built in 1498! A mazing bit of engineering and shows the determination needed to get a good supply of water!.
