We did a one day trip to the 120km upper north located famous town Búzios. Even tough it was cloudy, the town and the beaches were really beautiful. It must be incredible when it's good weather! There was a fantastic boat ride included, where we had the chance to swim at 3 different spots. We would definitely recommend to stay there for one night to enjoy the lovely small fisher town by night and to have more time to relax at the calm beaches!Lue lisää

Rio de Janeiro - Copacabana Beach

Our favorite activity was definitely relaxing at the world famous "Copacabana Beach". Beer, Caipirinhas, bikinis and traditional food is sold everywhere. And even if you don't want anything, they come close to you and just ask you about wanting some drugs! There are always circles of people playing football, volleyball and footvolley, a locally invented sport that is a combination of volleyball and football.

At weekends there are also lots of events happening so that we could watch a stand up paddeling contest, boxing match and a gay-parade. We got a little taste of how crazy it will be at Copacabana Beach while carnival!

Ilha Grande

Spending two days on Ilha Grande was just amazing!

We reached the island by taking a bus from Rio and changing the vehicle to a speedboat at Conceiçao de Jacareí. The island has no roads and motorised vehicles are banned, but instead it has more than 150 km of hiking trails connecting all the coastal villages and beaches. It inhabits more than 100 big or small beaches.

We would have loved to stay there much longer to discover more beaches and trails but as you know, time is flying and we soon have to go back to Switzerland.Lue lisää

Rio de Janeiro - Favela Rocinha

We enjoyed a 4h walking tour through the Rocinha favela, the largest favela of Rio and South America. The tour was organized by Alberto, a local english and german speaking tour guide. He lives in a favela and showed us not only a lot of hidden places and small backstreets but also his home and introduced us to lots of local people we met on the way. We didn't feel unsecure at anytime!Lue lisää

Our adventure allready ends. We had a great time full of wonderful moments, long lasting memories and great encounters we will never forget.

Our last day in Brasil we spent at Ipanema Beach to soak up the last sunrays. But how could it have been different: On the last day we got rubbed at the beach. So far we were lucky, but the beachbag of Chrigi wasn't there anymore. Fortunately neither camera, phone or other very valuable belongings were in it.

But now we are looking forward to celebrate Christmas and to see all our friends and families back home. And a big THANK YOU to our families for the heartily welcome at the airport!

We remember the beautiful and excellent moments that we spend together at home, you are great, Merry Christmas and a proper new year 2017.
