  • Ready to start

It was a rocky road to get there but we managed to reach it and ready to start. We have our roadbook in hand and ready to start!

  • Colors of Copenhagen

    June 18, 2022 in Denmark ⋅ ⛅ 18 °C

We settled in Kopenhagen tonight. Given the last couple of days, we figured we need a nice chill evening. So, we figured we will explore the city as we have never been there. 5min walking and I am already thinking that I could live here. It's a wuirky mix between legacy and quirky design. And it definitely helped that we ended up in a nice restaurant for the evening!Read more

  • Tail lights are back, baby

    June 19, 2022 in Denmark ⋅ 🌧 12 °C

When driving to Hamburg, we lost tail lights on the German highway - definitely, not an ideal start. Good thing we had a bunch of camping gear, including night lights, because one of the fuses just went down. So, we improvised a bit and managed to reach the hotel safely. Fuse going down wouldn't be an issue if only we had a newer car. This one is a special beast and needs special (aka cylindrical) fuses. We were on the hunt for those for the last couple of days and now we are definitely stocked for life. Oh, and the lights are back, baby! We can safely drive at night now. Tho, there is no night where we are heading.Read more

  • Old school navigation in action

    June 19, 2022 in Denmark ⋅ 🌧 11 °C

I grew up with my mom using the maps to get us through Europe but when I started travelling around, they were things of the past. During this trip, we are rediscovering maps and getting around with them. While cities are bundle of anxiwty and unknowns, the rest of the time it's actually relaxing. You don't stress about every kilometere passed, you much more aware of your surroundings and start actually reading the signs. Tho, give us a week and we will tell you how many times we were actually lost because of it.Read more

  • Settled for tonight

    June 19, 2022 in Sweden ⋅ 🌙 14 °C

It was quite a journey to get to the camping. We were brave (or stupid) and decided it's a brilliant idea to try wild camping and completely ignored the fact that our car is so low that every smallest boulder on the road is quite a challenge. Nonetheless, we persisted. Got to the spot, didn't like it and had to go back the same bumpy road. We figured we would be a bit more realstic and will get to the actual campsite. Got there and it was closed. Yet again we were lucky to be surrouned by good people and another team (btw, Dutchies!) was in the campsite. They let us in, we found a spot to stay and had a super chill evening with G&T. Somewhere along the way, Kristis managed to break the side mirrors. But duck tape is your friend!Read more

  • "Short cut"

    June 21, 2022 in Sweden ⋅ ☁️ 10 °C

We read in a group chat that that the main road we intended to take was under construction and quite few sections were not paved yet. So, we decided we will be a bit of smart-asses and will take a different NON-MAIN road, because you know our little car can't handle unpaved road. And guess what? We spent probably 60km going on an unpaved road in the middle of no where instead of 20 where cars pass by rather frequently. Oh, and for a sec we thought we lost fuel as gauge just went down. And we were still in the same middle of no where. Luckily, it was just too much splashing around. You should always always stick with main roads. Especially when you are driving 30y car.Read more

  • Here we go again

    June 21, 2022 in Sweden ⋅ ☁️ 6 °C

And we thought this was over. 30min to Norway, 30min more to our rest stop for the night and this time it was car, not the road. It just stopped. Literally. And there was absolutely nothing around. Kristis strated looking at what could be the challenge as I was completely useless in this situation. Aslo, we were lucky to be a part of traveling community. So, we cried for help. And our call was answered but the best mechanic on wheels - Hardy Leben. He came, checked everything, gave us mascot ignition coil which already saved 3 cars before us and wished us luck. While bad start, we managed to get the happy ending.Read more
