• Le Québo to Tréguier

    May 25 in France ⋅ 🌬 15 °C

Breakfast this morning was very nice 😋. Croissant, chocolate cake, yoghurt, fresh bread, butter, local jams and honey... it was delicious. I even snaffled a slice of choc cake for my lunch break and, had I had my wits about me, should've buttered the bread I already had. Still...
I wasn't in any rush to get going this morning. I knew I was walking part of the route along the coast before cutting inland, and I knew I couldn't get into my hotel until 1600, so there was no mad panic to get away. I still left before 0930, though, and enjoyed bimbling back towards the coast down the local streets. One in particular caught my eye😂
I walked along the coast on a wide path that was lovely beneath my feet. The Sillon de Talbert looked different again this morning and the path had attracted many joggers and walkers, it being Sunday. After a few kilometres, though, the route settled between two high hedges. I couldn't see the sea or the countryside so I decided it was time to turn inland. Although a lovely path, it was frustrating not to enjoy the sea and its amazing views.
The road I took led me through farmland and to the D20 (again), and I continued on this route for a while. I walked past a SuperU, so did a detour and bought some cold drinks.
The weather was changeable and, after some internal discussion, I decided to put my waterproof jacket on. Of course, as soon as I did this, it stopped raining altogether 🙄😂.
I passed a museum dedicated to the Flying Fortress - apparently the Americans liberated this area of Brittany - had Mick been with me I'm sure we'd have stopped for a look see!and continued until I found a lovely little square to sit in and eat my lunch. The sun was out by this time so layers were removed.
All of the older buildings were built of stone and it was like walking through the Cotswolds at times.
Continuing on towards Tréguier I walked on the side of the D20. There was very little traffic but, horrifyingly, one car stopped and the driver asked me if I'd like a lift! He drove off when I thanked him and said no, but this unnerved me for the first time in the 2 weeks I've been walking! It made me more aware of what and who was around me. Poor bloke was only being kind, I'm sure...
Anyway, onwards I trudged until I came to the Tréguier sign. Now, my selfies have always been a bit questionable, but I reckon this takes the biscuit 😂 . It was the best I could do, though.
I still had 45 minutes until I could get into my hotel, so a celebratory beer was called for. Can't mess with tradition!
My hotel is very nice and I've done a final clothes wash - I can't wait to give everything a deep clean when I get home 😂.
I've been for a walk through the old town - Tréguier is absolutely beautiful 😍. It has an amazing cathedral, so I'll post some pics of just that after this.
I found a restaurant that served home made Petit Salé (pork and lentils) which is one of my favourite French meals 😋 - we have tins and tins of it at home! I have to say, although this was really good, you can't beat a tin of Carrefour Petit Salé!🙄😂
I'm ready for a good night's sleep now. I've (🤞, cos I had to do it myself in my pidgin French) booked myself a taxi to Paimpol tomorrow morning, to then catch the train to Rennes, via Guingamp. I hope it works😂. One night in Rennes, then back to St Malo for an overnight ferry. Fingers crossed!
GR34 crossed off my non-existent list- well, part of it!
