    Chianti Wine Tour

    July 5, 2018 in Italy ⋅ ⛅ 28 °C

We took the opportunity today to do a wine tour of the Chianti region tour the Curious appetite gourmet tour company. We started with a quick stop to take in the amazing view over Florence from the “fake David” as it’s commonly known. We then travelled in the countryside where the scenery became picture perfect with rolling hills and tall thin Cypress trees. Our first stop of the day was a beautiful little village called Greve where we had some time to walk around the historic square to explore the shops and have a coffee. We then travelled just outside the main village to a tiny vineyard called Castellinuzza Piucca which only produces 2500 bottles per year where we first had a tour of their cellar and then had a fantastic lunch and wine tasting overlooking the beautiful rolling hills. On our way to the next vineyard we stopped off at a tiny little village called Montefioralle which only has a wine shop, bar and a restaurant. The Main Street in the village can only be accessed by foot and was so peaceful and tourist free apart from us! The next and final stop was at Solatione vineyard where we had a lovely tour from the owner Elisabetta followed by tasting and purchases to ship back home! It was then back to Florence where stopped off at a wine bar for a glass of red to top us up followed by a stroll around Florence and pizza.Read more
